News media bias in the case of George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin
The case of George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was a clear example of
biased news reporting for the sake of sensationalism and higher ratings. This page
is a spin-off product from the Media Bias page
and the page about specific examples of bias.
Overview: Incompetence
Wasn't the Problem in Broward County. Seventeen-year-old Miami-Dade student Trayvon Martin got neither
incarceration nor education. Eleven days after this self-congratulatory press release, Martin was shot and killed in
Sanford, Florida, 250 miles from his Miami home. For all the attention paid to the case, the media have refused to
report why Martin was left to wander the streets of Sanford High and alone on a Sunday night during a school week.
Sundance, who lives in South Florida, broke this story through old-fashioned gumshoe reporting. He writes, "Over time
the policy [in Miami-Dade] began to create outcomes where illegal behavior by students was essentially unchecked by law
enforcement." Sundance was alerted to the problem during the investigation into Martin's death when six M-DSPD officers
blew the whistle on their superiors, the most notable of them being Chief Hurley. The whistleblowers told of cases of
burglary and robbery where officers had to hide the recovered evidence in order to avoid writing up the students for criminal
behavior. "At first I didn't believe them," writes Sundance of the whistleblowers. "However, after getting
information from detectives, cross referencing police reports, and looking at the 'found merchandise' I realized they were
telling the truth." One of those incidents involved Martin.
From
George Zimmerman to Kyle Rittenhouse: A Decade of Woke Misrule. Ten years ago this coming February,
George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on a rainy night in Sanford, Florida. Without intending,
Zimmerman triggered a dark new phase in the history of progressive America. [...] With the dawn of the social media era,
however, the newly minted "progressives" made a conscious turn to the sinister. No longer content to conceal the guilt
of the guilty, they lied now to conceal the innocence of the innocent. [...] Had video captured the shooting of Martin,
Zimmerman would not have been arrested. [...] In the absence of video evidence, Trayvon's parents and their attorney,
Benjamin Crump, executed the most outrageous bit of judicial fraud in anyone's memory. They manufactured a bogus story
and a fully fake "ear witness" to tell her story both in depositions and at trial. Without this witness —
the mentally-challenged, plus-sized "girl friend," Rachel Jeantel — the State could not have arrested Zimmerman,
and the Martins could not have sued the homeowners association.
The
Rise of Jacobin Justice. [Scroll down] In February 2012, in Florida, a
battleground state, the Jacobins put their revised strategy to the test, transforming a Hispanic,
Obama-supporting civil rights activist into a murderous white supremacist. A neighborhood
watch captain, George Zimmerman shot and killed the deeply troubled young Trayvon Martin in
self-defense. Zimmerman aspired to be a police officer. He never got the chance.
With a president to re-elect, the media flaunted their growing indifference to the truth. In
the seventeen months between Martin's death and Zimmerman's acquittal, they would violate all
accepted journalistic standards in their effort to help Jacobin handyman Al Sharpton and his
cronies convict a transparently innocent man. This was a milestone, the first time in
anyone's memory that the national media writ large conspired to enable so conspicuous an
injustice. With the help of social media, mobs, both real and virtual, descended on Florida
to demand justice for Martin. As Los Angeles filmmaker Joel Gilbert proved beyond doubt in
The Trayvon Hoax, prosecutors used as their star witness a woman who was not a witness at
all. The media pretended not to notice the most flagrant corruption of the judicial process
in their careers. Fortunately for Zimmerman, the six women on his six-person jury paid no
attention to the news.
Media
Malpractice and the Murder of Andreas Probst. Two weeks ago, I had breakfast with
George Zimmerman — yes, that George Zimmerman, the Florida man whose life was ruined by
a national media eager, as always, to highlight the killing of a black person by a white man.
Within a week or two of Trayvon Martin's death, the media had transformed the innocent, Hispanic,
Obama-supporting civil rights activist Zimmerman into the poster child for white nationalism.
In my 2013 book, "If I Had a Son": Race, Guns, and the Railroading of George Zimmerman, I
document all the editing tricks Big Media — NBC, ABC, CNN, the New York
Times — used to pull off this evil alchemy. As a result, ten years after his
acquittal, having narrowly survived one assassination attempt, Zimmerman continues to live a life
in the shadows.
Why
the Washington Post Cannot 'Correct' Its Trayvon Tribute. On February 26, the Washington Post
commemorated the ten-year anniversary of Trayvon Martin's death with a loving and outrageously dishonest video tribute to the
fallen 17-year-old. Even more troubling, columnist Charles Blow enlisted former president Barack Obama in this
mendacious rewrite of recent history. On Friday morning, March 4, I sent an email to "corrections."
I sent the same email to managing editor Sally Buzbee and several other relevant editors.
NY
Times uses the same misleading edit of Zimmerman's 911 call that got two NBC journalists fired. Over the
weekend the NY Times published an opinion video about the 10th anniversary of Travon Martin's death. The video
features interviews with Henry Louis Gates, Al Sharpton and Barack Obama. It starts off on a controversial note with
Gates arguing that the modern Civil Rights movement really started after the "murder" of Martin. There was of course a
trial of George Zimmerman for murder back in 2013 and he was acquitted on grounds of self defense. In any case, the
video quickly shifts into telling the story of the shooting starting with the 911 call which Zimmerman placed that night.
NY
Times Publishes Slanderous Video About the Death of Trayvon Martin. On the 10th anniversary of the death of
Trayvon Martin, the New York Times has published a video about this tragedy that slanders individuals, sows racial
resentments, and impugns the people of the United States en masse. In addition to employing a series of highly
deceptive half-truths, the video edits a police recording to make it seem like Martin was murdered and that his killer got
away with it because Martin was black. The events underlying the video unfolded on a rainy night in Sanford, Florida in
February 2012 when Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old black teen, was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer named
George Zimmerman. Often labeled by the media as "white Hispanic," Zimmerman is half-white, half-Hispanic, and partially black.
Rittenhouse
trial calls new attention to 'Trayvon Hoax'. The trial of Kyle Rittenhouse has called renewed attention to a
parallel case, that of the Florida shooting in 2012 of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watch captain George
Zimmerman. In 2019, L.A. filmmaker Joe Gilbert produced a stunningly researched documentary — and
accompanying book — on the case titled, "The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud That Divided
America." In my own 2013 book, "If I Had A Son," I argued that the jury did the right thing in acquitting Zimmerman of
all charges in July 2013, an acquittal that led to the creation of Black Lives Matter. Gilbert took the case a giant
step further. He proved beyond any doubt that the State of Florida's star witness, Rachel Jeantel, did not witness
anything, either in person or by phone. Instead, the Martin family lawyer, the now rich and famous Benjamin Crump,
managed to get the obese, mentally-challenged Jeantel to pose as Martin's girlfriend and the "ear witness" to the shooting.
Review:
The Trayvon Hoax, Unmasking the Witness Fraud. [Scroll down] It is no small thing to substitute a fake witness
in a murder trial for the real witness. I give The Trayvon Hoax documentary five stars. If you have been interested in
the Trayvon Martin - George Zimmerman case, watch this documentary. It reveals how much the nation has been played by those
who benefit from racial strife. Joel Gilbert deserves high praise for doing the work none of the power elite wanted
done. The two hours spent watching this documentary is two hours well spent. [Video clip]
Yet Another Grand Jury Defies the Fake
News Narrative. The Fake News convinced many that George Zimmerman was a White supremacist who murdered a
sweet, clean-cut teen boy, a darling with a hoodie in Florida. NBC news doctored a recording that Zimmerman had phoned
into the police, omitting key words to make his innocent and desperate call seem like a racist one. But in the end,
George Zimmerman was not charged with a crime for standing his ground when, as a Neighborhood Watch volunteer, he had acted
in good faith and was in peril of getting pummeled to death himself by Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman even turned out to be
Hispanic.
Obama's Monster Has
Escaped the Lab, Now What? [Scroll down] On March 23, 2012, Obama let the monster loose. Four weeks
earlier, a neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Florida, shot and killed an unarmed 17-year-old named Trayvon Martin.
For four weeks, the media constructed an aggressively false narrative about the shooting, perhaps best summed up by Miami
congresswoman Frederica Wilson: "Trayvon was hunted down like a rabid dog. He was shot in the street. He
was racially profiled." For four weeks, Obama said nothing. In the interim, any number of progressive black pundits
zeroed in on Obama's Achilles' heel, his fear of seeming inauthentic. Blogger Yvette Carnell's post hit the
target. "Obama is perfectly willing to give a sermon to black men on Father's Day about what they need to be doing,"
she commented, "but totally incapable of advocating for a black boy who was murdered in the street while carrying only
Skittles and iced tea." Finally, on that March morning, Obama said for the ages, "My main message is to the parents of
Trayvon. You know, if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon." In projecting Trayvon as a "son," Obama strongly
suggested that all black children, even the president's imagined son, were equally vulnerable to the predations of white
men. Four weeks after the shooting, Obama had no excuse for not knowing the facts of the case.
The Trayvon Hoax:
Are Young Blacks Weary of Being 'Played'? As the YouTube comments revealed, several of the viewers grew up
thinking of Trayvon Martin's death the way their grandparents thought of Emmett Till's, two innocent adolescents killed for
the crime of being black. They had no idea that Martin, a skilled street fighter a half-foot taller than Zimmerman,
gratuitously attacked the neighborhood watch captain. Nor did they know Zimmerman was an Hispanic civil rights activist
and Obama supporter. In 2019, Gilbert took up where Sundance left off and confirmed the Treepers' suspicion that the
State of Florida's star witness, Rachel Jeantel, was an impostor. In the film, Gilbert proves his case beyond doubt and
even locates the real phone witness, an attractive young Haitian-American named Brittany Diamond Eugene. The attorney
who orchestrated this fraud, Gilbert makes clear, was none other than Benjamin Crump, the ringmaster of the George Floyd show
and the subject of an upcoming Netflix documentary. If enough young black viewers watch Gilbert's film and speak out,
the Crump film will never air.
Zimmerman
Prosecutors Deny the Undeniable As Lawsuit Proceeds. [Scroll down] It is understandable why other parties
in the case would lie. At least three of them have done it before under oath, and they have got a lot to lose. [...]
The prosecutors and the others involved have to be sweating the response of Trayvon's actual girlfriend and real phone
witness, Brittany Diamond Eugene. The recent criminal justice graduate of Florida State University has changed lawyers
twice already, but she has never lied under oath. She has no compelling reason to start now.
George Zimmerman sues Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren for
$265 million. George Zimmerman wants a day in court against two of the leading Democratic presidential
contenders, accusing them of defamation. In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Florida, the man who killed Trayvon Martin in
self-defense in 2012 accused Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of "maliciously defam[ing]" Mr. Zimmerman,
using the killing "as a pretext to demagogue and falsely brand Zimmerman as a white supremacist and racist to their millions
of Twitter followers." Mr. Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges on traditional self-defense grounds, because Martin
attacked him and beat his head against the ground, supposedly for profiling the black teen while on a neighborhood-watch shift.
Hey,
GOP! This is What Pushback Looks Like. [Scroll down] Others are pushing back too, perhaps taking
inspiration from President Trump. Here are two recent examples. Filmmaker Joel Gilbert, director of The Trayvon
Hoax is suing Coral Gables Art Cinema and the city of Coral Gables. As the Miami Herald reported, "The suit says the
cinema, at the urging of the Coral Gables mayor, had no right to cancel a rental of the theater for a private screening of
Gilbert's documentary on the George Zimmerman trial after the shooting death of Trayvon Martin." Not only did Gilbert
expose the bogus Trayvon Martin story, he is pushing back against those continuing to perpetuate the hoax. There is
nothing like a $670,000 lawsuit as a punch in the nose to those bullies pushing censorship and suppression of the truth.
Did
the Media Force a False Narrative on the Trayvon Martin Case? There has been widespread reporting of the civil
lawsuit for $100 million being brought by attorney Larry Klayman on behalf of George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed
Trayvon Martin almost eight years ago. At the core of the lawsuit is the claim that the key witness against Zimmerman
at his trial, Rachel Jeantel, was a fake witness pretending to be Diamond Eugene, the 16-year-old girl who was on the phone
with Trayvon in the last minutes before his death. The lawsuit, based on investigative reporting by documentary
producer Joel Gilbert, targets Trayvon's parents, their lawyer Benjamin Crump, both Jeantel and the real Diamond Eugene,
prosecution lawyers and the state of Florida, all of whom, according to the lawsuit, knew or should have known of the witness
substitution.
Operation
Mockingbird's Racial Destructive Lies. To sell their irresponsible evil lie that whites routinely murder blacks,
fake news media reported that Trayvon Martin was gunned down by George Zimmerman, a "white Hispanic." The truth is,
Martin jumped on top of Zimmerman and began beating his head into the ground. Incredibly, NBC news went as far as to
edit Zimmerman's 9/11 call to make him sound like a racist. Fake news media mislead the public about Martin's age,
promoting a photo of him as a cute little boy. Martin was a 17-year-old thug. George Zimmerman was acquitted in
the 2012 shooting. And yet, the Martin shooting continues to be used to sell the lie that innocent black children live
in constant danger of being murdered by racist white men. Zimmerman is fighting back with a $100 million lawsuit
against Martin's family and the prosecutors.
George
Zimmerman Sues Trayvon Martin's family and Florida prosecutors for $100 million, claiming they engineered false evidence in
his homicide trial. George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the 2012 fatal
shooting of unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin, is suing Martin's family and Florida prosecutors, claiming that they engineered
false evidence in the homicide trial. The lawsuit filed Wednesday [12/4/2019] in Polk County Circuit Court seeks
$100 million in civil damages for defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy. It alleges that the prosecution's
key witness in Zimmerman's 2013 murder trial, Rachel Jeantel, was an imposter coached by the family and their lawyers.
The
Trayvon Hoax Shines a Light on the 'Fake News' Industry. Big media balks at the term "fake news," insisting
that they honestly and accurately report the news of the day. Those paying attention to the news can cite numerous
examples of fake news, either deliberate misinformation or laziness on the part of reporters. Joel Gilbert, in his book
and film of the same name, The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America, describes one of
the biggest examples of "fake news" in modern times: that the prosecution's key witness in the trial of George Zimmerman was
in imposter. Joel demonstrated a long-lost art, investigative journalism, and he did it in a fun, entertaining, and
easily readable manner.
Will
the Miami Herald Step Up and Save Mainstream Journalism? As intended, my October 23 article, "Why Did the Miami
Herald Abandon Journalism," caught the attention of the editors of that venerable newspaper. Now that I have their
attention, I would like them to address a question that only they have the clout and resources to answer: did the Florida
state attorneys know that their star witness in the 2013 trial of George Zimmerman was an imposter? If the editors
answer this question, they could win a Pulitzer. [...] Here is the immediate news hook: the one adult who provably knew
about the witness switch is now running for Miami-Dade county commissioner with the open support of Hillary Clinton.
Her name is Sybrina Fulton, the biological mother of Trayvon Martin.
An
Interview with The Trayvon Hoax Director Joel Gilbert. The Zimmerman trial literally divided
America. Prior to the trial in 2013, both blacks and whites rated race relations as positive. These numbers have
been negative ever since. The trial spawned Black Lives Matter and subsequently the Ferguson Effect, a crime disaster
for black neighborhoods with homicides up 33 percent nationwide. Also, the modern era of fake news and race hoaxes took
wing with this case. [...] The Trayvon Hoax is two things. It's the story of how a real phone witness to Trayvon
Martin's final minutes was switched for a fake witness. The Trayvon Hoax is also the name I give to the hoax the media
play on black Americans every day: that blacks should vote Democrat to protect themselves from a racist America where
whites want to harm them because of their skin color.
The
Trayvon Martin Hoax Comes Crashing Down. With a mediocre economy, growing questions about the efficacy of
Obamacare, and a lethargic base waking up from a hope hangover to find that the president had left them hanging on the change
part, the media knew that President Obama couldn't win on his record. The media would need a controversy to galvanize
the base and shame moderates into reelecting President Obama. And so, when an unarmed black teenager was shot and
killed by a man claiming self-defense, the media pounced. They routinely used a years-old photo of Martin as a smiling
young child. Zimmerman was depicted with a mugshot. The message was clear: Martin was just a young child
wearing a hoodie and eating Skittles while Zimmerman was a deranged menace.
Filmmaker
Joel Gilbert Set To Reveal The Hoax Behind Rachel Jeantel (Witness #8). Anyone who paid attention to the
details in the George Zimmerman case knew Florida state prosecutors knowingly, and with malicious intent, falsified witness
testimony from Witness #8 Rachel Jeantel; who they claimed was Trayvon Martin's girlfriend. Back in November 2012 CTH
first emphasized how Trayvon Martin's family created a completely false narrative about Trayvon's 16-year-old girlfriend "Dee Dee".
The
Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America. After a painstaking investigation into
the Trayvon Martin shooting, I have produced a film and written a companion book, both called The Trayvon Hoax:
Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America. Only after I started the project did I realize I had stumbled onto
the most spectacular case of identity fraud in modern American judicial history. [...] After speaking with Benjamin Crump,
for any number of good reasons, Diamond Eugene refused to "follow the script." She refused to speak with the state
prosecutors or bear false witness against George Zimmerman under oath. Instead, the plus-sized 18-year-old Rachel
Jeantel was substituted for Diamond, and Jeantel became the key witness in the murder trial of George Zimmerman.
Jeantel was a fraud. She was not the "phone witness" speaking to Trayvon Martin in the minutes before he was
shot. She barely knew him. This witness fraud resulted in the seminal race hoax of the Obama years.
The
Trayvon Hoax That Divided America Is About to Be Exposed. On Monday, September 16, Joel Gilbert will
preview his new documentary, "The Trayvon Hoax," in the 500-seat Ballroom of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The
screening begins at 1 p.m. Admission is free, and Gilbert is encouraging all interested parties to come see for themselves
what could be a game-changer in the way the media report racially-charged news. Gilbert's findings are that significant.
Having written a book on the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin — If I Had a Son — I have been
following Gilbert's progress with interest. [...] If I were Trayvon Martin's parents or his family's attorneys, I would be very
nervous right now. If I were Florida state attorneys who prosecuted the case, I would be more nervous still. And if
I were the media who covered this case — are you listening Matt Gutman and Lisa Bloom? — I would prepare
to be mortified. The coverage of this case was a disgrace from day one. To uncover this staggering fraud, Gilbert
did what reporters used to do. [...]
Patrisse
Cullors: Nearly Six Years Ago Trayvon Martin Was Murdered 'In Cold Blood'. Patrisse Cullors is one of the
co-founders of the Black Lives Matter movement, a movement which began after unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin was shot and
killed by George Zimmerman nearly six years ago. Today, NBC News has published a piece by Cullors which repeats some
false claims about Martin's death, foremost among them that he was murdered in "cold blood."
Florida
university to award Trayvon Martin a posthumous honorary degree. At its commencement ceremony on May 13,
Florida Memorial University will present a posthumous honorary degree to Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager killed by
George Zimmerman five years ago. The private university announced Wednesday [5/3/2017] that Martin's parents, Sabrina Fulton
and Tracy Martin, will accept a bachelor of science degree in aeronautical science with a concentration in flight education on
behalf of their son.
Travyon
Martin will receive posthumous degree in Florida. A university will award Trayvon Martin a posthumous Bachelor
of Science Degree in aviation five years after the black teenager was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in
central Florida.

Fake News Stories from the Mainstream Media. [For example,] George Zimmerman's edited 911 call: The media
was very interested in keeping the George Zimmerman — Trayvon Martin story hot, fresh, and outrageous, eagerly
stirring a bubbling pot of racial paranoia for political and ratings reasons. A great deal of the early reporting about
the Trayvon Martin shooting could be classified as "fake news." Who can forget the widely circulated images of Martin as a
baby-faced child, even though reporters knew that wasn't what he looked like at the time of his death? The nadir of fake
news in the Zimmerman-Martin story was reached when NBC News deliberately, maliciously edited a recording of the call Zimmerman
placed to 911 on the night of the February 2012 shooting, to make it sound as if Zimmerman was obsessed with Martin's
race. NBC reporters even tried to convince viewers Zimmerman used a racial epthet.
Lies have consequences.
Trayvon Martin wasn't some innocent little lamb minding his own business who was shot dead for no other reason than he was
black. But you guys in the Enslaved Press peddled those lies nonetheless. You even went so far as to call the
shooter a "White Hispanic" in order to perpetrate the fiction that whites were indiscriminately shooting black "children" for
no reason. NBC, your own network, doctored the 911 tape to make it sound like George Zimmerman called the police
because Martin was black. You idiots in the Enslaved Press used an old photograph of Trayvon Martin from when he was a
little boy, rather than a more current photo of him to further push the lie. From the White House, Barack Obama continued
to push the false narrative that Trayvon Martin was an innocent victim of "gun violence" killed only because of the color of
his skin.
Zimmerman
Case Aftermath Continues. How much does it cost taxpayers to prosecute the transparently
innocent? Tens of millions. How much does it cost after the predictable trial loss to defend
against the unethical conduct within the case? You are about to find out.
George Zimmerman: Obama
Stinks. It was bad enough that George Zimmerman was attacked, his head beaten into the
pavement by a man who was bigger than him, which forced him to kill his attacker to defend his own
life. Then he became the target of an unending propaganda campaign by a race-obsessed media, aided
and abetted by the President of the United States himself. But Zimmerman's not taking this
one lying down.
Never
Before Outlined Details Of False Racially Constructed Case Against George Zimmerman.
[Scroll down] Part of that prior outline highlighted three law enforcement officials who were
trying to get George Zimmerman arrested despite the investigative evidence that showed Zimmerman was
acting in self defense. Those people Serino cited were Sargent Arthur Barnes and officers Rebecca
Villalona and Trekelle Perkins. However, previously unknown was how racially motivated their efforts
were. [...] Sgt. Barnes and officer Perkins are black; Villalona is married to an African-American man.
All three "Law Enforcement Officers" were working behind the scenes, on behalf of the black Sanford community,
the Black Grievance Industry and the local NAACP, to insure that Zimmerman was arrested. Sgt. Barnes
was in frequent and continuous contact with Trayvon Martin's father, Tracy Martin, giving him information
about what was going on. In turn, Tracy would then relay this information to attorney's Benjamin
Crump, Daryl Parks and Natalie Jackson.

Death. [Scroll down] It was that M-DSPD internal affairs investigation which
revealed in October 2011 Trayvon Martin was searched by School Resource Officer, Darryl Dunn. The
search of Trayvon Martin's backpack turned up at least 12 pcs of ladies jewelry, and a man's watch,
in addition to a flat head screwdriver described as "a burglary tool". When Trayvon was questioned
about who owned the jewelry and where it came from, he claimed he was just holding it for a "friend".
A "friend" he would not name.

DOJ
Set to Announce No Charges Against George Zimmerman. While the public waits for a
Justice Department announcement over two separate investigations spurred by the summer shooting of
an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, the department announced today [2/24/2015] it is closing
its investigation into the killing of Trayvon Martin.
ABC (above) says the announcement was made on the 24th. CBS says it was Monday the 23rd. No
federal civil rights charges expected in Trayvon Martin case. Three years after teen
Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Fla., setting off a national debate
on race and gun laws, the Department of Justice announced Monday [2/23/2015] it had concluded that there is not
enough evidence to bring civil rights charges in the case. Attorney General Eric Holder called the case "a
devastating tragedy," in a press release.
Justice
Dept. Won't Charge George Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin Killing. The Justice Department
on Tuesday [2/24/2015] closed its investigation into the shooting death three years ago of Trayvon
Martin, the unarmed black teenager in a hoodie who became a symbol of racial profiling and expansive
self-defense laws, without filing hate-crime charges against the gunman George Zimmerman.
Overview
of the Zimmerman case: When you are constructing a ruse — based on faulty and imperfect
details — control becomes the primary factor. Everything must be controlled. In 2012
anything not specifically controlled by those who are shaping events is considered a "risk". That "risk" is
why a Grand Jury was never used in the Zimmerman case. The facts and the grand jury were a risk because they
specifically ran counter to the claims being advanced. That's also why you never saw the results of the FBI
investigation into the Zimmerman case — because that investigation showed there was ZERO substance to
the claims being made. It would be entirely possible to write a book on all of the legal and political maneuvers
made in 2012, 2013 just to avoid the facts of the Zimmerman case reaching sunlight.
Trayvon
2.0 Redux — Comparing Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin Similarities. While the two
shooting events are separated by two and a half years, Trayvon (Feb 2012) Mike Brown (Aug 2014) the
similarities are quite remarkable. One of the key aspects that aligns both narratives is the
appearance of the attorney for both families Benjamin Crump. The second key aspect is the way
the media portray both events.
Progressives and Blacks. Sometimes I wonder when black
people will reject the patronizing insults of white progressives and their black handmaidens. After CNN's Piers Morgan's interview with the key witness
in the George Zimmerman trial, he said: "Rachel Jeantel is not uneducated. She's a smart cookie." That's a remarkable conclusion. Here's
a 19-year-old young lady, still in high school, who cannot read cursive and appears to be barely literate. Morgan may have meant Jeantel is smart —
for a black person.
Now The Brutal Bias From The Orlando Sentinel In The Zimmerman Case Makes Sense. [Scroll down] At
the time I was directed to contact Rene Stutzman by author Jack Cashill who was privy to the back story we were discovering. It was around the time we
discovered Trayvon Martin had been expelled — not suspended — from Krop Senior High School, which came as a consequence of having his police engagements
diverted to alternate discipline methods. The trail of provable evidence from inside the Miami-Dade School Police Department was not a matter of opinion,
it was fact.
ABC Still Corrupting Zimmerman case.
In a perverse bit of post-trial agitprop, ABC News somehow recruited the one woman of color on George Zimmerman's "all white" jury and twisted her
words to reflect the presumed editorial position of ABC News.
MSNBC
Is Now Rev. Al Sharpton's Personal Fiefdom. It was just another day at the office when Sharpton held a rabble-rousing rally for Trayvon Martin
in the afternoon and then covered it on his show hours later. But Saturday's rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial celebrating the 50th anniversary
of Martin Luther King's March on Washington was the most dramatic conflict of interest yet. Sharpton organized the rally (with Martin Luther King III),
and MSNBC aired huge chunks of it live, including all 20 minutes of Sharpton's screaming keynote speech.
ABC News
Accused of Dishonestly Editing Zimmerman Juror to Take 'Got Away With Murder' Out of Context. According to all reports, Juror B29,
the sole nonwhite juror on the George Zimmerman trial, said the neighborhood watch volunteer got away with murder. But Slate's William Saletan
says not so fast, and accused the network on Friday of deceptive editing and manipulation to get the answers they wanted. According to Saletan,
the juror — identified only by her first name, Maddy — has "been framed as the woman who was bullied out of voting to convict
Zimmerman." But, he said, that's simply not true. Saletan said she stands by the not guilty verdict.
WaPo Buries
Lede On Zimmerman Juror: She Called Trial A 'Publicity Stunt'. The headline of the July 25 piece blares what the left-wing commentators
have been screaming for days: "Zimmerman got away with murder." It's juicy. It's eye-catching, but it paints a two-dimensional
portrait of how the juror, who calls herself Maddy, feels about the case. In fact, Maddy, a mother of eight of Puerto Rican heritage —
bursting once and for all the "all-white jury" meme in the liberal media — said in a televised interview that she thought the trial was a
"publicity stunt," and probably shouldn't have been convened the first place.
The Media Fail to
Start a Race War. You have to wonder: Do the mainstream media really want blacks in this country to riot because
a jury of his peers found George Zimmerman "not guilty" of the charges against him? That's certainly the impression I get
from the coverage of the trial and its aftermath.
Channeling King Henry II. A properly
instructed jury found Zimmerman not guilty of the charges he faced. National headlines should have ended at this point. [... But] Cable
news channels continue to play and replay events from the trial. Some have gone to great lengths to portray the 17-year old Martin
as angelic and above reproach.
How
TV news failed Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman, and American people. In the charade that became the trial of George Zimmerman in
the death of Trayvon Martin, and in the continuing aftermath of the verdict, there was one thing the American people didn't get from much of the
national broadcast media: fairness. In the hours of continuous coverage that I monitored and recorded, I couldn't believe the lack of
balance in coverage.
The Editor says...
I wonder how the writer "couldn't believe the lack of balance" since the imbalance has been especially blatant over the last 20 years.
Defending
American Principles Is Now a Revolutionary Act. The [George Zimmerman] case was a joke, but you wouldn't know that if you only listened
to the mainstream media. The media's rank speculation, mischaracterization of the evidence and outright lies were designed to replace the strict
adherence to law and the rules of evidence that for a thousand years have protected the accused from the mindless fury of the mob.
The Rev. Sharpton's already flagging posse. Instead of
inspiring more hatred, Rachel inspired pity. Rather than the handful of viewers who watch CNN thinking of her as an ignorant bigot,
a flaming liar, or worse, folk saw her for what she really was — CNN exploited.
Legal Experts: Zimmerman
Suit Could Cost NBC 'Millions'. If you look at this timeline that lists the objectively terrible media behavior in the early days
of the Zimmerman case last year, you will see how crucial NBC's fraudulent editing of a 911 call was in setting a media and political narrative
that falsely claimed George Zimmerman is racist.
Zimmerman
lawyer to move 'asap' against NBC News. Last night's not-guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman trial will enable the
neighborhood-watch volunteer to resume his case against NBC News for the mis-editing of his widely distributed call to police. Back in
December, Zimmerman sued NBC Universal Media for defamation over the botched editing, which depicted him as a hardened racial profiler.
More lies from the main
stream media about the Zimmerman case. The claim that Zimmerman was at fault because he pursued Martin after being told not to has
absolutely no basis in fact. It is a made up assumption that has been repeated so many times by the media that people actually believe that is
what happened. The 911 call that was placed by Zimmerman is on the web in both audio and written transcript form. It was played numerous
times at the trial. There is no excuse for continuing to lie about the evidence. The Chicago Tribune should know better than to continue
to perpetuate lies that have fueled so much anger over this case.
The Spectacle of Al Sharpton. MSNBC's reaction to the
Zimmerman verdict was an editorial vomit. The network chose Al Sharpton and Melissa Harris-Perry to be among its commentators. Both
predictably injected race into the discussion. It's the only card in either one's deck. Al Sharpton's presence as a commentator is
particularly galling. Sharpton operates as part shakedown artist, part con man, and part Hizballah-lite through his National Action Network.
He was no bystander in the Martin case. He was among the first to turn the tragedy into a phony referendum on race relations.
Media's High-Tech
Lynching Of George Zimmerman. • ABC News originally claiming Zimmerman had no visible signs of injury based on a fuzzy video
that later, when enhanced, clearly showed wounds to his head.
• CNN isolating part of a 911 call and speculating Zimmerman could be heard in the background calling Martin a racial slur, when in fact
he did no such thing.
• Networks broadcasting photos of Martin as a pre-teen, ignoring the social-media photos of the 17-year-old smoking, shooting the middle
finger and glowering at the camera with gold teeth.
Major media also ignored Martin's criminal history. At the time of the shooting, he was visiting Zimmerman's townhouse complex in Sanford, Fla., from
Miami, where he'd been suspended from school after officials found burglary tools and allegedly stolen jewelry in his backpack. Previously, police had
detained him for pot, firearms and defacing school property. He'd also allegedly been involved in various assaults.
Jack Cashill's If I Had a Son.
The definitive account of the conspiracy to send George Zimmerman to prison for the self-defense shooting of Trayvon Martin is reaching bookstores
today. Jack Cashill's If I had a Son: Race, Guns, and the Railroading of George Zimmerman is a must-read for anyone interested in race,
justice and the corruption of the American mass media. [...] There are villains aplenty, and Cashill not only names names, he documents and explains
the outrages that were perpetrated on a gullible public.
Zimmerman case hurt media's image.
A Pew Research poll this month revealed that less than a third of Americans believe journalists contribute "a lot" to societal well-being.
That's more in a continuing stream of bad news for the media. Unfortunately, the press has done little to improve that image with its
coverage of Trayvon Martin's death. Instead, reporters took a tragic situation and sensationalized it [...]
Were
Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman connected to al Qaeda? Why is anybody in the media focusing on such absolute nonsense?
From Jody Arias to the Martin-Zimmerman trial, the American media has focused on complete and utter drivel while world financial systems are
collapsing and Middle Eastern governments are exploding into flames. Media scavengers may desperately need ratings, but that does not
excuse the American people from investing their energy in two men who should not be known to anybody outside of their immediate families.
Al
Sharpton: 'Some People Exploiting Differences Between Us for Their Own Advantage'. Reverend Al Sharpton, known for
racially divisive rhetoric as an activist, political candidate, and talk show host, accused conservatives Rush Limbaugh, Sean
Hannity and Bill O'Reilly — who he termed "the unholy triumvirate of right-wing reaction" — of "exploiting
differences between us for their own advantage" following the George Zimmerman verdict.

And the Oscar Goes to... Sybrina
Fulton and Tracy Martin! Through their nakedly deceptive public speaking tours, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, parents of
Trayvon Martin, are all but ensuring that a high percentage of American black males will continue to end up in the cradle-to-prison
pipeline. By glorifying their son's lifestyle, they push young wayward blacks away from the truth and into further trouble.
How Obama Poisoned Race
Relations in America. The Trayvon Martin case is one of the most visible examples of the Obama administration's
deliberate poisoning of race relations; all in coordination with the NAACP, the racial grievance industry and the corrupt leftist
media. We now know that the administration had direct involvement in fanning the flames of racial discord that brought the
case to the national stage.
Leading From Behind Al Sharpton.
Black leaders demanded Obama come out of hiding and stand in solidarity with the aggrieved and outraged. Belatedly and meekly, Obama
complied. "Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago," said Obama. But which Trayvon? The one walking home with
Skittles and tea? Or the one who sucker-punched Zimmerman, decked him, piled on, pummeled him martial arts style, hammered his head on
the sidewalk, ignored his screams for help and got shot by the guy he was assaulting?
Black caucus member:
Blacks worth less than whites in America. A member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) said Monday night that the Trayvon
Martin trial is the latest evidence that America does not value the lives of blacks and whites equally.
The Decline of the Civil-Rights Establishment.
Today's black leadership pretty much lives off the fumes of moral authority that linger from its glory days in the 1950s and '60s.
The Zimmerman verdict lets us see this and feel a little embarrassed for them. Consider the pathos of a leadership that once
transformed the nation now lusting for the conviction of the contrite and mortified George Zimmerman, as if a stint in prison for him
would somehow assure more peace and security for black teenagers everywhere. This, despite the fact that nearly one black teenager
a day is shot dead on the South Side of Chicago — to name only one city — by another black teenager.
Video
Proof: Media Fall For Hoax Racism At Pro-Zimmerman Rally. Sunday's "Justice-For-Trayvon" march held by the New Black Panther
Party was attended by a woman holding a sign reading: "Racist and Proud." Several media outlets incorrectly identified the woman
as a "George Zimmerman supporter," and the story took off, providing the left with supposed evidence of racism among those who believe
Zimmerman was not guilty. However, an interview with Breitbart News at the Houston rally itself proved that she was an anti-Zimmerman
demonstrator attempting to use sarcasm to prove her point.
It's 'Al' to the chief. Is Al
Sharpton president of the United States? Or just attorney general? I ask because it's not clear where the rabble-rousing rev's
agenda ends and White House policy begins. These days, they are one and the same. [...] Obama's headline-grabbing statement that "Trayvon
Martin could have been me" and his attempt to justify black anger were straight out of Sharpton's playbook.
Trayvon Rallies Feature the Usual
Suspects. My sense is that the "Justice for Trayvon" rallies that were held in various cities today didn't amount to much.
One basic question is, did they even have much to do with Trayvon Martin? [...] This is exactly the same stupidity we have seen over and over
from the left. Boycott oranges! Why? They grow in Florida! Boycott Coca-Cola! Why? Because they buy oranges!
[...] Looking on the bright side, I doubt that a single orange, can of Coke, pair of shoes or box of Dixie cups will be forgone because of
today's agitation.
'Justice
for Trayvon' Protests Draw Small Crowds; Nation Moves On. Nationwide rallies against the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the
shooting death of Trayvon Martin drew small crowds, a sign that Americans had largely accepted the verdict and that race relations are not
nearly as frayed as Al Sharpton's National Action Network had sought to indicate. The flagship rally in New York only drew a crowd of
"hundreds," while a rally in Newport News, Virginia struggled to draw two dozen.
The Obama
Administration's Race-Baiting Campaign. The first thing to remember is that, with the Obama administration, there are no
coincidences. The attorney general of the United States is engaged in a shocking extrajudicial publicity campaign. Eric Holder is
prosecuting George Zimmerman in the court of public opinion because he knows he wouldn't have a prayer of convicting him in a court of law.
Obama goes full race-baiter. I'd like to hear from
some representatives of the Hispanic community. How do they feel about President Obama driving a wedge deeper and deeper between blacks and
Hispanics? Is he just arrogant enough to think that the Democrats can count on their votes in 2016, no matter what? Is he right?
Why is it okay to make a Hispanic guy an Enemy of the State for defending his own life against an attacker?
I am not Trayvon Martin. Not just because if confronted by a
local Latino homeowner, I'm not likely to pick up a fight with him and beat him until he shoots me. I am also not Trayvon Martin because
if I were shot and killed by any person, regardless of race, color or creed, you would never hear Obama talking about it because I look nothing
like his son. Lacking the Black Privilege that turns a death into an opportunity for race baiting, I would just be another statistic.
Sharpton praises
Obama remarks ahead of Trayvon protests. The Rev. Al Sharpton Friday called President Obama's surprise remarks on the Trayvon Martin
murder and its impact on American blacks "significant and much needed," saying they helped prepare the ground for protests Mr. Sharpton is helping to
organize around the country this weekend. "I think he has set a tone for both direct action and needed dialogue," Mr. Sharpton said in a
statement after the president's very personal remarks about how he reacted to the acquittal of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in
the Florida trial last week.
'Stand Your Ground' Against the Left.
This administration has a disturbing propensity for manipulating tragedy and doing all in its power to jab sharp objects into open wounds.
To Holder and the president, the isolated events involving Trayvon Martin, which have not been publicly replicated anywhere else in America on any
regular or reported basis, serve as yet another excuse to launch sweeping radical attacks on the rights of all Americans. They loathe the
ability of citizens to protect themselves against the left's predators, whether social or political.
Zimmerman
Verdict Not The Big Race Event Media Claim. Only about a quarter of the public closely followed the Zimmerman trial, yet the
media treat it as the event of the century. They, like their professional agitator cohorts, thrive on racial animosity.
The 4 Most Unhinged Responses to the
Zimmerman Verdict. The recent George Zimmerman acquittal drew predictable responses from the race-obsessed left: death threats
directed at Zimmerman, his family and the jurors; protests with signs provided by and promoting Communist organizations; violence and vandalism; and of
course community organizing by race hustlers Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson. But it also brought forth a few particularly irrational reactions.
Here's another reason to get rid of
the UN: Jesse
Jackson Urges U.N. Human Rights Council to Investigate Trayvon Martin Shooting. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, founder and
president of the Rainbow Push Coalition, wants the United Nations' human rights watchdog brought into the debate over the shooting
of Trayvon Martin. Various parts of the U.N. human rights system have in the past weighed in on the Feb. 2012 shooting of
the 17-year-old, criticizing Florida's "stand your ground" law and, in one case, calling for "reparation for the victims."
America, Forever Racist? How did
this story merit consideration as national news? Why was the death of Trayvon Martin a thousand times more newsworthy than any other
person shot on an American street? Answer: because Al Sharpton and other race-hustlers wanted it that way.
Now Obama and Holder are stuck.
African-American leaders such as Roslyn M. Brock, Chair of the NAACP, have begun to urge the prosecution of Zimmerman under the [federal hate crime]
statute. But Obama and Holder are caught on the horns of a dilemma. If they prosecute Zimmerman, the trial will make crystal clear that he
is a racially tolerant man while Trayvon Martin was a bigot. This is not a good outcome for their racialist politics.
NBC's Sharpton Plans
Protests In 100 Cities. During MSNBC's 11 am hour, above a chyron that read, "More Marches, Protests Planned in Coming
Days, Weeks," MSNBC anchor Al Sharpton said that he and his National Action Network are "mobilizing" protests in 100 cities.
Sharpton made clear that the protests were meant to pressure the Justice Department into taking legal action against George Zimmerman.
Trayvon
Attorney Crump Denies Connection To Astroturf 'Dream Defenders'. Trayvon Martin's family's attorneys, Benjamin Crump and Daryl Parks
appear to have connections to an Astroturf activist group that led protests, marches and other civil disobedience that forced the removal of Sanford,
Florida's police chief, the arrest of George Zimmerman and even led chants calling for nationwide protests after the "not guilty" verdict was announced
in criminal case.
Zimmerman's lawyers: He
might seek "compensation" from the prosecution. The feds are pretending that they might prosecute Zimmerman for violating Martin's
civil rights, but they won't. They probably can't win and the combination of racial tensions and perceptions of double jeopardy (which is what
a federal prosecution would smell like, even though it's technically not DJ) makes the whole thing too politically risky for O.
Ann Coulter slams
media 'Mississippi Burning' narrative after Zimmerman verdict. "[I] tweeted out 'hallelujah,' because this was a media-led mob, and an
innocent man almost went to prison for 30 years because of, well, Al Sharpton stirring up hatred and creating a narrative for which there was
never any evidence and after this long trial there is still never any evidence," Coulter said. "What George Zimmerman said happened —
the evidence only supported that. There is certainly no evidence that he stalked someone, that he tracked them down and picked him out either
because he was black or because he was wearing a hoodie."
Why Sharpton is Actually Delighted by Zimmerman's
Acquittal. The reason I believe this to be so is because an acquittal puts Sharpton in his element. An acquittal
gives Sharpton an opportunity to be the center of the media spotlight to tell the world that America is still a racist country.
The Zimmerman Verdict is Still a
Win for the Race-Baiting Left. Yes locking up Zimmerman would have been a nice prize, but Zimmerman, the beleaguered White-Hispanic
Obama supporter, was just the means, not the end. The end was to make the case that the justice system is racist and needs more control and
supervision by Fed.gov. And that mission has been accomplished. Zimmerman's acquittal, if anything, aids it.
Why is Joshua Chellew less important than
Trayvon Martin? [Scroll down] Courtesy of Top Conservative News, which notes: ["]If the races had been reversed, this
would be the biggest news story in the United States. It would have knocked the Zimmerman trial out of the news.["] Yep. Or, if
Chellew had been able to defend himself against one or all of them, he'd be the new George Zimmerman. We'd be seeing baby pictures of his
attackers. Al Sharpton would be marching.
The
Role of the Justice Department in Organizing Trayvon Martin Protests. Judicial Watch announced today [7/10/2013] that it has obtained
documents in response to local, state, and federal records requests revealing that a little-known unit of the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Community
Relations Service (CRS), was deployed to Sanford, FL, following the Trayvon Martin shooting to help organize and manage rallies and protests against
George Zimmerman.
Trayvongate: Newest Obama Scandal is 17 Months Old.
Welcome to Trayvongate, where the President of the United States used both the bully pulpit, the Department of Justice and sly media manipulation
to gin up charges of racism in the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin shooting.
Department
of Justice reportedly organized pro-Trayvon Martin protests. According to documents released earlier today by the anti-corruption,
conservative organization Judicial Watch, a little-known division of the Justice Department sent agents to the central Florida port city of Sanford
in order to deal with community relations after Trayon Martin's fatal shooting last year. "Records obtained by Judicial Watch in response to
local, state and federal public records requests show that the so-called peacekeepers are part of a large and growing division within DOJ called the
Community Relations Service (CRS)," the group reported.
Docs: Justice Department facilitated anti-Zimmerman
protests. A division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) was deployed to Sanford, Florida in 2012 to provide assistance for
anti-George Zimmerman protests, including a rally headlined by activist Al Sharpton, according to newly released documents. The Community
Relations Service (CRS), a unit of DOJ, reported expenses related to its deployment in Sanford to help manage protests between March and April 2012,
according to documents obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch.
Newly
Released Documents Detail the Department of Justice's Role in Organizing Trayvon Martin protests. Judicial Watch announced today that
it has obtained documents proving that the Department of Justice played a major behind-the-scenes role in organizing protests against George Zimmerman.
Zimmerman is on trial for second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in February 2012. Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of
Information Act request with the DOJ on April 24, 2012. According to the documents JW received, a little-known DOJ unit called the
Community Relations Service deployed to Sanford, FL, to organize and manage rallies against Zimmerman.
Taxpayers Helped
Sharpton Stir Anti-Zimmerman Anger. The Obama administration spent thousands of federal dollars to help the Rev. Al Sharpton pressure
the state of Florida to railroad George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting case. The Justice Department not only met with Martin's parents
and the notorious racial arsonist Sharpton, as we reported earlier this week. It even helped them organize rallies against Zimmerman, who trial
evidence shows shot Martin in self-defense.
President Obama vs. George Zimmerman:
America Loses. As the Zimmerman prosecution falls apart, the country faces the threat of race riots. A case that lacked any
evidence of malicious murder was wrongfully brought to court under political pressure. And our president, who instigated this mess, is
floating above it all, having moved on to other things. Will Obama speak out to avert the racial violence he set in motion? Unless
he sees some political advantage, the answer is no.
Zimmerman's Pointless Trial.
George Zimmerman will be found not guilty if his attorney connects the dots in his closing argument and the jury is fair.
Then the professional race-baiters can go to work spreading disharmony. The trial concerns whether Hispanic (Peruvian)
Zimmerman was acting in self-defense when he shot Martin, whom we are constantly reminded happens to be Black.
The Editor says...
Black "community leaders" have been trying to achieve "equality" for at least 75 years, but now they appear to say that a black man can't
be given a fair trial without a black jury. This appears to be a claim of black supremacy, because a mostly-white jury isn't good enough.
Harvard
Prof. Alan Dershowitz: Zimmerman Arrest Affidavit 'Irresponsible And Unethical'. Harvard University law
professor Alan Dershowitz appeared on MSNBC's Hardball where fill-in host Michel Smerconish asked him his opinions of
the arrest warrant issued and carried out for alleged Trayvon Martin murderer, George Zimmerman. Dershowitz
called the affidavit justifying Zimmerman's arrest "not only thin, it's irresponsible." He went on to criticize
the decision to charge Zimmerman for second degree murder by special prosecutor Angela Corey as being politically
motivated.
The Trayvon Martin Case
and the Growing Racial Divide. The problem with the race establishment is not its acrimony per se, but (a) that
the acrimony is frozen in amber around 1960, with no acknowledgment of some 50 years of federal action and three new generations
of Americans, and (b) the inordinate time invested in blaming "them" rather than spent on introspection on how to achieve parity with
a majority culture in the manner of other minorities' successes. Or at least that is how I perceive the growing anger at the
Sharpton/Jackson/Black Caucus nexus.
Rev. Al Sharpton: The Race Hustler as
Kingmaker. Imagine if David Duke were now a Republican Party kingmaker, and Mitt Romney and other presumptive
candidates had to go to his organization's events, seek his endorsement, and stand by his side — just as he was
presiding over rallies seeking mainstream support for George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin's shooter. Yes, everyone knew
Duke was once a Ku Klux Klan leader and had only slightly cleaned up his racist act, but now he came on as a non-partisan
fighter for justice on behalf of aggrieved white males, and when he spoke, wore pinstripe suits, especially when presiding
over his own TV talk show. If that scenario existed, every news anchor and reporter, and every single Democrat and
liberal, would blast the Republicans non-stop.
Charge against Zimmerman reeks of
unprofessionalism. Over the last several weeks, the shooting of Trayvon Martin has been front and center in the mainstream
media and on talk shows, both conservative and liberal. The focus of the coverage has been on the supposed racial divide —
fueled in part by the involvement of the Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, the New Black Panthers and other "experts" like former
heavyweight champion and convicted felon Mike Tyson. [...] Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the media frenzy over the incident has been
incredibly disingenuous.
Black Activist to Trayvon's
Parents: 'Get Off the Stage' and Let Us Politicize His Death. A well-known, mainstream media-vetted college professor named Dr. Boyce
Watkins states that it's time for Trayvon Martin's parents to "step to the side," out of an apparent fear that "being honest" could negatively affect
the race-baiting political agenda that Obama allies like Al Sharpton have carefully crafted.
Eric
Holder Praises Left-Wing Activist Al Sharpton. Attorney General Eric Holder praised left-wing activist
Rev. Al Sharpton at the opening of the National Action Network (NAN) convention on Wednesday [4/11/2012], and also
stressed that the Justice Department is conducting a thorough investigation of the fatal Trayvon Martin shooting
that "will examine the facts and the law." Sharpton, president of NAN and host of MSNBC's Politics Nation,
has led several rallies demanding the arrest of George Zimmerman, who reportedly shot Martin on Feb. 26. On
Mar. 30 in Sanford, Fla., where the shooting occurred, Sharpton pledged that his group would "move to the
next level if Zimmerman isn't arrested."
Sharpton Calling for
Civil Disobedience. Contrary to the polite and peaceful demonstration the NAACP had planned, if local law
enforcement doesn't obey the commands of the mob and immediately arrest George Zimmerman, Sharpton has upped the ante to
include "civil disobedience." Full-time racial agitator, part-time preacher of the Gospel Al Sharpton calls his
plan "mov[ing] it to the next level" and, trust me, he's not talking about his hairdo.
Manipulating Death: The
Nation's Grievance Industry. It was no surprise that the racial opportunists soon mobilized and
descended on Florida, raising the stakes of the game. The dead teenager and his family became pawns in the
agendas of Al Sharpton, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, the New Black Panther Party, and the Congressional
Black Caucus, among others. George Zimmerman may soon find himself explaining his actions in court, but
Zimmerman is small potatoes to the activists. Beyond Zimmerman's hide, the larger aim is to indict America
for the killing of Trayvon Martin.
Dem Reps Sponsor
Resolution Blaming 'Racial Bias' For Trayvon Shooting. There is little to no evidence that George Zimmerman shot
Trayvon Martin because Martin was black. But that hasn't stopped members of the Congressional Black Caucus from sponsoring
a resolution linking Martin to gun control and lamenting supposed racial profiling of the teenager.
Those Inciting Violence Over Martin Tragedy Must be
Prosecuted. The recent tragic shooting of Trayvon Martin understandably stirred up great debate over
self-defense laws, citizen patrols, gun rights, and racial profiling. But despite the fact that the actual details
of the case are still in dispute, several celebrities have called for a vigilante response. The question here is
whether the right of Free Speech would protect these actions. The answer is, according to the US Supreme Court in the
seminal case Brandenburg v. Ohio, Free Speech rights do not protect persons from words bringing harm to others.
Wearing
A Hoodie Doesn't Make You Hoodlum, But Wearing One On The House Floor Makes You A Disgrace. "Just because one wears a
hoodie does not make them a hoodlum," Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) declared as he donned a hoodie and sunglasses on the House
floor — at which point the session's chair called the sergeant-at-arms to enforce the House rule on decorum.
In a theatrical stunt to comment on the controversy surrounding the shooting of hooded Trayvon Martin, Rep. Rush pulled a
hoodie over his head and went on a rant.
Bobby
Rush: 'Lynched' on the House Floor by Mississippi Republican?. When Rep. Bobby Rush donned a hoodie and sunglasses
on the House floor as a stunt to publicize his opposition to the handling of Trayvon Martin's death in Florida, McClatchy News
Service cooed, "For the 65-year-old former 1960s Black Panther Party activist, an act of civil disobedience never felt so
good." But Washington Post columnist Lisa Miller inflated the stunt way beyond its significance — comparing
it to lynching — with a white Republican congressman from Mississippi, Rep. Gregg Harper, as the alleged metaphorical
hangman for pounding the gavel and calling Rep. Rush out of order.
Al
Sharpton Declares Civil Disobedience Will Escalate if Zimmerman Remains Free. In an interview with Orlando Sentinel
reporter Arelis Hernández this morning, the Rev. Al Sharpton warned that an escalation in civil disobedience and economic
sanctions would be imminent unless Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman was apprehended immediately. "I will speak about
how the National Action Network will move to the next level if Zimmerman isn't arrested," Sharpton told Hernández, adding
that he will "elaborate on this plan Saturday" when thousands are expected to demonstrate.
The Editor says...
It's the old Karl Marx strategy: "Accuse others of what you do." And if all you need is a five-second sound bite, it works.
Race Relations Are Much Worse Under
Obama. If you're a white person who voted for Barack Obama believing that his election would usher in a post-racial
era in America, you must be very disappointed. Race relations have in fact never been more volatile and the nation is now
sitting on a time bomb as we draw closer to another election. Whose fault is it? Race-baiting demagogues like
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are feverishly trying to exploit the recent killing of a young black man in Florida for their own
selfish agenda to boost their fading relevance. Typically they have jumped to conclusions before all the actual facts have
been uncovered.
Mob Rule Trumps
Rule Of Law In Trayvon Martin Killing. A Democratic ex-Black Panther congressman is escorted off the House floor for
disrespecting the institution by wearing a hoodie. Dividing Americans is no way to react to violence.
Jesse: Trayvon Proves 'Blacks Are Under
Attack'. No matter whether [George] Zimmerman is charged or convicted, a tragedy occurred. But is Jesse
Jackson right, that the death of Trayvon Martin suggests "blacks are under attack," presumably by racist non-blacks?
True, black men, especially young ones, stand a much greater chance of being murdered than white males. But almost
all murders involve a victim and a killer of the same race.
Obama's Big Trayvon Lie. This
absurd "we're all guilty" mentality is just another way for liberals to escape the bottom line conclusion: individuals, not
societies, are responsible for the acts they undertake. ... The left doesn't care about George Zimmerman. They care about
everybody who opposes President Obama and the liberal agenda — which is why Obama inserted himself into this story in
the first place.
Ex-NAACP big rips
Al & Jesse for handling of Trayvon Martin shooting. The furor over the shooting of Florida teen Trayvon
Martin is being "exploited" by the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to "racially divide the country," a civil-rights
leader charged yesterday [3/26/2012]. Martin's "family should be outraged at the fact that they're using this child
as the bait to inflame racial passions," the Rev. C.L. Bryant, a former NAACP leader, said of the 17-year-old hoodie-wearing
black youth who was shot dead by a mixed white-Latino neighborhood-watch volunteer.
Oh, incidentally... Registered Dem Killed Trayvon.
The individual at the center of the controversial Trayvon Martin shooting is a registered Democrat.
Shades of Sharpton. We seem to be in the
"sentence first, verdict afterwards" phase of the Trayvon Martin affair. Speaking outside of his New York City headquarters,
Al Sharpton said that it is important to show "sustained indignation" over Martin's death. Has that cretin ever beat the drums for
a cause that had truth or justice on its side? If so, I don't remember it, but I suppose there's always a first time.
George
Zimmerman's lawyer vows appeal in suit against NBC. The lawyer in George Zimmerman's
defamation suit is vowing to appeal the ruling of a Florida judge who yesterday tossed the
litigation from her courtroom. Judge Debra S. Nelson wrote that Zimmerman "shall take
nothing by this suit" even though NBC News in multiple broadcasts had shortened a police call in a
way that inaccurately depicted Zimmerman as volunteering racial information about Trayvon Martin
on the night of their fatal encounter in February 2012.
George
Zimmerman, Media Malpractice, and NBC. Zimmerman had sued NBC for manipulating the substance of
his famous call to a police dispatcher to make him sound like a racist. In firing two employees and
apologizing publicly, NBC all but admitted its guilt. What saved NBC a major payout was Nelson's ruling
that Zimmerman was a "public figure." According to Nelson, Zimmerman made himself a public figure by
"voluntarily injecting his views into the public controversy surrounding race relations and public safety in
Sanford." He did this a year before the shooting.
Judge
rules against George Zimmerman in NBC lawsuit. A judge on Monday [6/30/2014] ruled
against George Zimmerman in a defamation lawsuit he filed against NBC Universal over edited 911
calls made after Trayvon Martin was shot and killed in 2012. In the ruling, Judge Debra S. Nelson
said, "There are no genuine issues of material fact upon which a reasonable jury could find that the
Defendants acted with actual malice."
George Zimmerman Lynching Further Unravels. George Zimmerman has been
the subject of the most transparent and vicious media and law enforcement lynchings since the FBI tried to blame hero security guard Richard Jewell for the 1996
Olympics bombing carried out by Eric Robert Rudolph. [...] Despite erroneous media claims, George Zimmerman's next-day account tracked well with both the physical
and medical evidence recovered at the scene of the shooting and with the recording of the non-emergency call he made the night before. An underreported fact
of the investigation: the almost foolishly transparent way Zimmerman cooperated with police, refusing to obtain an attorney until long after he'd completed
his interviews and follow-up interviews with the Sanford Police's investigators.
NBC
Affiliate Aired Edited Zimmerman 911 Call Days Before Today Show Did. According to a report from South
Florida TV News, the person allegedly responsible for the misleading edit to George Zimmerman's 911 call was a local
reporter/producer named Jeff Burnside, and he has been fired by Miami NBC affiliate WTVJ. [...] The report says that
a producer at the network level, who failed to check the tape because it came from an affiliate, was also fired.
Report:
Correspondent at NBC Affiliate Created Fake Zimmerman Recording. According to the journalism news site
Poynter.org, [Jeff] Burnside did not create any of the altered clips which ran on NBC's television programs.
Instead, he created a clip of his own that aired on the WTVJ programs. Poynter has spoken with Burnside and
confirmed that he has indeed been fired.
Who Is Responsible for NBC's Zimmerman
Edit? We Have a Name. I wrote earlier that there is no way that NBC's Zimmerman edit was an accident or error, as the network
claims. I base my position on nearly 20 years of editing video and audio. NBC's Zimmerman edit was deliberate, done in a
network editing studio at the specifications or orders of a producer who in turn answers up a chain of command that ends with the executive
producer of the show that aired it. That show was the Today show, the highest-rated morning news show on the networks, and
one of NBC's prime products.
NBC = New [Baloney] from Capus. First, a quick recap of
what NBC News did to George Zimmerman's 911 call: Zimmerman answered a police dispatcher's direct question about Trayvon Martin's identifying
characteristics, and NBC altered it to make it sound like Zimmerman said Martin was up to no good because he was black. And we're supposed to
believe NBC made an innocent mistake.
NBC's latest editing 'mistake'
follows a history of similar mistakes. NBC announced on Friday [4/6/2012] that the "seasoned" producer who edited sound of the 911 call between
George Zimmerman and a 911 dispatcher was fired. [...] Unfortunately, this is not the first time an edit or circumstance like this occurred at one of the
NBC networks.
Editgate:
a one-time thing that NBC News did over and over. NBC News made that dishonest edit, then claimed it
was an innocent mistake and the perpetrator had been fired, but wouldn't say who and wouldn't say how everybody
else at NBC News somehow missed it. [...] I knew about the multiple instances of this same "mistake" at NBC
Miami, but I didn't realize the Today Show had made the same "mistake" the week before. If Steve Capus
didn't know that, why not? If he did know that, why is he pretending it only happened once?
MSNBC's Year Of Apologies. It has been a
fateful year for the cable news network MSNBC. It seems every month, another host — or even the network
itself — is forced to apologize for reporting a factual error or overstepping the bounds of responsible commentary.
NBC News and the Death of Truth.
Not only did NBC edit the audio, but also edited Zimmerman's quotes as published on its Internet site, helping to foster the
false belief that Zimmerman had singled out Martin because of his race. Yesterday [4/25/2012], NBC News fired a
producer/reporter at its Miami affiliate — the second such reported firing in connection with the deceptive edit [...] This
would seem to suggest that NBC News is sacrificing low-level personnel — throwing "fresh meat" to "right-wing
bloggers" — in an effort to evade corporate responsibility for an unethical deception that inflamed racial
tensions in the Martin case.
Second Firing in False
Zimmerman 911 Edit. There has been a second firing at NBC over the misleading edit of George Zimmerman's 911 call.
A report published yesterday [4/25/2012] afternoon by the Miami Herald identifies reporter/producer Jeff Burnside as the
individual responsible for the edits which appeared in an NBC6 news story on March 19th and again on March 20th.
How Many Deceptive NBC Edits Before Steve
Capus Is Fired? Well, we know the answer isn't five. Though it won't speak the truth of why out loud, even the New York Times
admits the NBC News brand is in trouble, and late yesterday Reuters gave us another example as to why: ["]Lawyers for Jerry Sandusky sought a
mistrial before his conviction for child sex abuse on the grounds that prosecutors showed jurors an inaccurate version of a bombshell NBC News
interview with the former football coach, and the mistake may now form part of the basis for an appeal.["]
NBC Editgate: Buck Stops With Brian
Williams. In September 2004, shortly before the November presidential elections pitting George W. Bush
against John Kerry, CBS Evening News anchor and managing editor Dan Rather presented a falsified document to the public that
purported to show that Bush had gone AWOL from the Texas Air National Guard. As it turned out, the papers were forgeries.
Rather retired under heavy pressure. This month, NBC News broadcast a heavily edited tape of George Zimmerman's 911
call in the Trayvon Martin case. The tape itself was fully available. And NBC News, as we've reported,
cut the relevant portion of the tape deliberately in order to make Zimmerman look like a racist.
Media malpractice alert: ABC and NBC backtrack on Zimmerman stories.
Coverage of media coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting has now fully separated from the actual events of February 26, 2012,
and become a separate story in its own right, as have political attempts to manipulate perceptions of the case.
ABC News Correspondent:
Trayvon Shot 'Because He Was Black'. ABC News has already been caught red-handed attempting to aid and abet
Obama's national campaign to community organize America by inflaming racial divisions, and now a series of Tweets from ABC
News correspondent Matt Gutman, one of the network's lead reporters on the Trayvon Martin story, gives us a first-hand look
at the biases and preconceived notions that have sprung up in ABC's abysmal (and corrupt) reporting from the beginning.
Mother Jones Spanks NBC
Over Zimmerman Edit. When even Kevin Drum at Mother Jones has to call NBC out over their outrageous editing of
George Zimmerman's 911 call to portray him as racist, you know it's bad. NBC may try to pass it off as one miscue, or mis-edit,
somehow — but many will argue NBC portrayed Zimmerman precisely as they wanted to and they as well as other networks have
been doing all along.
The Obama Administration's
Dispensable People. George Zimmerman, the man who claims he shot Florida teenager Trayvon Martin in self-defense, is
like Mr. Verilli — a disposable person from what should be a media-protected category. According to
prevailing orthodoxies, he is actually more deserving of special status than the average Hispanic; while, oddly, The New York Times
seemed to imply that his mixed lineage as a "white Hispanic" renders him less worthy of consideration, since identity is supposed
to be everything, is not Zimmerman a living embodiment of the kind of racial diversity the Legacy Media claim to cherish and promote?
Obama fails the race test.
Hearsay, rumors and opinions masquerading as facts dominate the discussion. Acts of extreme journalistic malpractice, such
as NBC's "Today" show running a 911 call tape that was edited to make Mr. Zimmerman's motive appear unquestionably racist,
serve to throw gasoline on the fire. A March 26 CNN poll showed that 73 percent of Americans think Mr. Zimmerman
should be arrested, and this trial by media brings to mind John P. Roche's observation that lynch mobs will claim to be
highly democratic because there is only one dissenting voice.
NBC
News starts probe of edited Zimmerman 911 call. Amid withering criticism from media watchdog groups, NBC News on
Monday [4/2/2012] said it will conduct an internal probe into how and why an audio tape of George Zimmerman's 911 tape was altered
to make the Florida neighborhood watch volunteer sound racist.
The Real Price of Obama's Prevarications.
The elite media have indulged Obama for the same reasons they indulged [Muhammad] Ali. That indulgence allows them to assert their own virtue and
revel in their own enlightenment. Largely controlling the information flow, they continue to produce — fabricate if need be — racial
morality plays in which their guy triumphs over some frightful species of right wing troglodyte. They did it with Ali-Frazier. They did it with
Obama-McCain. And now, dangerously, they are doing it with Martin-Zimmerman.
Trayvon
and Zimmerman: The Structure and Elements of a Disinformation Campaign. "Trayvon," of course, is Trayvon Martin, the
black 17-year-old who was killed two months ago in Florida. "Zimmerman" is George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who
shot him. Referring to Martin by his first name and Zimmerman by his last is just one small tactic in the national media campaign
to make Martin's death an enduring symbol of white racism. The Trayvon campaign is accurately described as "disinformation" because
deception is a fundamental part of its planning, strategy, and implementation. Leftist disinformation campaigns are common but not
widely understood. This article is intended to make them easier to recognize, and to provide a framework for additional research
and investigation.
Update
#21 — Trayvon Martin Shooting — The Media Retreat No Longer Subtle. For anyone following this
story/legal case you know what the local ground players in/around Orlando have been doing. They have been systematically and
methodically distancing themselves from the "George Zimmerman is Racist" narrative. The retreat is now going mainstream.
NYT Revives 'Zimmerman Is Racist' Meme with
Unverifiable Anecdote. In an otherwise unremarkable and inconclusive New York Times report on the latest released findings in the Trayvon
Martin shooting incident, the liberal rag decides to drop an unverified, practically un-sourced bomb on George Zimmerman.
The Crucial Trayvon Martin Evidence the Media Won't Repeat.
Fighters that prefer to take their opponents down to the ground to fight and hope to obtain this dominant mounted position are said to favor a style of fighting
called "ground and pound."
AP,
UPI Finally Note NBC's Firing of Producer Over Zimmerman 911 Call Editing. Breitbart.com has noted that it took about
17 hours before the dam broke, but now the Associated Press and United Press International both have stories on NBC's decision to
fire a Miami-based producer over the editing of George Zimmerman's 911 call.
The Tipping Point for
the National Media? The unchanged tape is a thousand miles distant from the mangled one, and NBC has said it is sorry for "an
error made in the production process." But that is evasive mumbo jumbo. The editing was not a technical issue of production.
It was a substantive issue of content, and the "error" happened to fit a thesis of racist homicide while making the network look like a
watchdog hero. It seems to me to have been error with a purpose.
Altered
meaning of Zimmerman's 911 call. It seems that a version of the 911 tape that we all heard over and
over again of George Zimmerman calling the cops to report suspicious behavior by 17-year-old Trayvon Martin just
before fatally shooting the boy was like something out of the Nixon White House — edited.
NBC News
Fires Editgate Producer. The NBC producer responsible for the misleading edit of the George Zimmerman's 911 call
has been fired. The producer was reportedly fired Thursday, but the firing did not hit the press until this Friday evening
[4/6/2012], just before a holiday weekend. NBC News had no comment on the firing.
Nameless Scapegoat Watch: WaPo's Erik Wemple wonders why NBC
didn't quickly come clean about its so-bad-it-seems-intentional mis-edit of the Zimmerman 911 call. Why not immediately "go into detail on
exactly what had happened and what disciplinary measures would be taken"? I suspect the answer has something to do with the
possibility of a libel suit from Zimmerman.
Now NPR Joins the 911 Call
Fantasists. On this morning's hourly news broadcast, National Public Radio joined those who have distorted
key portions of George Zimmerman's 911 call in order to assign him culpability and/or racist motives in the shooting of
Trayvon Martin. The distortion in this case was the claim that "Zimmerman pursued Martin after police, responding
to Zimmerman's 911 call, told him not to."
NBC News
President: Network Should 'Probably' Apologize On-Air for Repeatedly Running Fake Zimmerman Clip. It's been several weeks since NBC
disgraced itself by repeatedly airing doctored audio of George Zimmerman talking to a 9-1-1 dispatcher but the network has yet to apologize on the
air, hoping instead that its paltry efforts of firing a lone producer and conducting an investigation into the matter but not releasing a report
to the public would be sufficient.
NBC
to do 'internal investigation' on Zimmerman segment. NBC told this blog today that it would investigate its
handling of a piece on the "Today" show that ham-handedly abridged the conversation between George Zimmerman and a dispatcher
in the moments before the death of Trayvon Martin. A statement from NBC: "We have launched an internal
investigation into the editorial process surrounding this particular story." Great news right there.
NBC Deceptively
Edits Zimmerman 911 Call; Implies Racist Motive. In an NBC segment featuring George Zimmerman's 911 call
on the night of the Trayvon Martin shooting, Zimmerman is heard saying: "This guy looks like he's up to no good.
He looks black." The full version, though, unfolds like this...
Did NBC Air Edited Zimmerman 911 Audio
To Incite? Two days ago, Big Journalism reported on a published report by MSNBC staff and NBC News that
contained an irresponsibly edited quote from George Zimmerman's 911 call which misleadingly portrayed him as racist.
It has now emerged that NBC actually aired an edited version of the call which matches the published report.
The Secret Chord. One Tagalog word for
which no exact translation in English exists is "kuryente." It literally means "electric current," but the word can be applied to
the practice of spreading sensational but faked news in order to produce a media jolt. One newspaper translates "kuryente" as
"a bum steer"; others have rendered it as "actually but not really" or "confirmed but not definite." At any rate, the phrase
applies perfectly to the storm of bogus rumors swirling around the Trayvon Martin media feeding frenzy.
MSNBC Hosts a Lynch Mob.
If racism killed Trayvon Martin, why is Al Sharpton a television host?
Reuters Indecisive On Zimmerman's Race.
Numerous media entities have labeled Zimmerman a "white Hispanic" and have thoroughly investigated his heritage and ancestry.
It's important for the media to do that so they can justify personalities like Al Sharpton and groups like the New Black Panthers
who are determined to turn this into a white vs black 60s race war election tactic.
Playing the Race Card Again.
"White Hispanic." That's how the New York Times, Reuters and other media outlets have opted to describe George Zimmerman, a
man who would simply be Hispanic if he hadn't shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. The term, rarely if ever used
before this tragedy, is necessary in telling the Martin story in a more comfortable way.
Why Lots Of People Think The Media Is
Wrong About The Trayvon Martin Case. Increasingly the outrage over the death of Trayvon Martin in Florida is turning into a
debate about what really happened. ... The Trayvon Martin story is just a distressing collection of disconnected facts. The media and
social justice activists have told one story with them: of a murder motivated by racism that was covered up by the cops.
Now people are pushing back on it.
Media Labels Hispanic Man White in Shooting of Black
Teen. On Friday night [3/16/2012], a young African-American teenager, Trayvon Martin, was shot to death in Orlando by a
neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman. The media immediately portrayed the death as a case of white on black racism.
CBS News, on its Crimesider website, immediately called Zimmerman a "white neighborhood watch volunteer." Martin's parents accused
the police of racism for not arresting Zimmerman. There's only one problem: Zimmerman is Hispanic.
Edit-Gate: NBC's Friday Night 'Nameless
Producer' Dump. Like Rathergate, Edit-Gate is a New Media-driven story pushed so hard that the mainstream media can no longer ignore it.
The result has been some action on the part of NBC News, but nowhere near enough.
The Left is Losing the Media Wars.
The leftist media overstructure — the network of committed individuals and institutions that keep the media narrative congruent with the
goals of the left — is starting to self-destruct, devouring itself with headstrong recklessness, ego, and inability to understand the
strength of conservatives and their ideas. The left is taking serious casualties in the Zimmerman affair. Two lefty media operatives
lost their jobs, we learned late Friday afternoon [4/6/2012].
