Obamacare socialism proceeding as Marx wished.  For those of you getting hit with $2,000-$3,000 monthly premiums for basic medical insurance, take comfort in the fact that 20 percent of all Obamacare consumers are getting absolutely free coverage.  And that doesn't even include those enrolled in Medicaid expansion.  In our times, a handout is a right, but free enterprise and the right to keep the fruits of one's labor are forbidden.  One hundred years after the Bolshevik revolution, the land of the free is no longer free.  On Monday [11/21/2017], the AP reported that one in five insurance customers were completely subsidized and paid zero in monthly premiums.

Welcome to the United States of Alice.  Whether or not one supports the Affordable Care Act (ACA), it is anything but "affordable." [...] Worse, ACA's religious freedom exemption, instead of allowing the Little Sisters of the Poor to practice their faith and serve the elderly poor, enables the federal government to crush the order's ministry because, miraculously, the state rightly determines what Catholic teaching requires.  Will sanity prevail when the U.S. Supreme Court rules this fall?

King vs. Humbug.  Neither the President nor his supporters give a rat's posterior about those who may lose their taxpayer-funded subsidies in the three-dozen states that will be affected by the ruling.  What these people care about is fundamentally transforming the U.S. into a European-style social democracy.  Obamacare plays a crucial role in that project, and they are willing to tell any lie or violate any principle to preserve it.

Obamacare is a political tool for the construction of a permanent Democrat majority.
GOP foolish to think ObamaCare is fixable.  Even by the most inflated administration claims, some 8 million people have signed up for exchange plans, out of a nation of 318 million.  ObamaCare is repealable, and should be replaced with a plan to cover the uninsured and reduce costs.  ObamaCare's authors paid lip service to these goals but had an ulterior motive:  forging a permanent Democratic majority.  The law creates a huge infrastructure for enrolling millions of people not just in insurance but also for food stamps, housing assistance and other welfare programs — and registering them to vote.

The Affordable Care Act First does Harm, Period.  While much about Barack Obama remains mysterious, he was easily the most left-wing member of the U.S. Senate.  As president of the United States, his left-wing orthodoxy is best manifest in his signature health plan.  ObamaCare follows a principle beloved of Karl Marx and other socialist founding fathers:  From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.  Note the first word:  from.  In this order of priorities it is more important what the individual gives up and what the state takes.  The individual's particular needs are secondary, and ObamaCare follows this pattern precisely.

Obamacare Façade Has Crumbled.  Perhaps the most interesting result of the bungling of HealthCare.gov is the now transparent reveal that Obamacare is nothing more than an effort to put health care in the United States under complete government control regardless of social or financial cost. [...] Why do we need to put health insurance, reimbursement, and determination of care under centralized government control to meet the needs of 15% of our population?

No Moral Grounds for Obamacare.  Obamacare, like all redistributionist programs, turns morality on its head by holding need as the moral standard.  This subjects anyone to the force and whim of a thousand masters, or a hundred thousand, or as many who declare such need.  That is the antithesis of a moral system.

Obamacare FY14 Budget: 'To Ensure Integrity of Programs That Redistribute Tens of Billions'.  The fiscal 2014 budget justification released by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Marilyn Tavenner explains that CMS is requesting that Congress appropriate $803.5 million for operations and management of the Obamacare exchanges during the fiscal year so that, among other things, CMS can "ensure the integrity of programs that redistribute tens of billions of dollars."  Overall, CMS wants $2 billion to run what it calls the "Federal Marketplace" for health insurance.

Obamacare's Latino Push May Give Democrats Political Edge.  The battle over Obamacare is taking on political importance as Democrats hope a successful roll-out among Hispanics will further bind those voters to the Democratic Party and undermine Republican efforts to build more support before the 2016 presidential election.

Tyranny Always Starts with a Little Prick.  Ten years ago, when Tea Party Patriot groups were popping up all over America to fight back against Obamacare's socialized medicine and its expansion of the welfare state, it was common to hear the battle framed as one between "makers" and "takers," a rebuke by working-class Americans who knew they would ultimately be paying more in taxes for worse health care so that Americans who paid no taxes at all could have their "fair share."  When people called out Obama and his medical mandates (you must have Obamacare, and Obamacare must cover abortions, "sex change" operations, and anything else the government decrees...) for orchestrating a federal takeover of one-fifth of the economy while inviting Big Brother to peek behind the hospital curtain and spy on the private health decisions of every American, they were lambasted for not having enough empathy for those in need. [...] Turns out an awful lot can go wrong awfully quickly.  Obamacare mandates have morphed into mask and lockdown and injection mandates.  Obama's use of the NSA, IRS, and FBI to threaten conservative speech became redundant when Silicon Valley censorship boards jumped in to do the government's bidding in the name of public health.

8 Times Barack Obama Abused His Power To Appease His Base.  [#1] Illegal fixes to Obamacare:  Obama's domestic policy legacy depended heavily on the success of Obamacare.  As problems with the law piled up, Obama began to make changes to Obamacare without the consent of Congress.  By the start of his last year in the White House, "at least 43 of the changes to the Affordable Care Act [had] been made unilaterally by the Obama administration."  Obamacare was, for the most part, unpopular during Obama's presidency.  People weren't happy with their higher premiums, higher deductibles, and crappy coverage, but the Democrat base wanted Obamacare because they believed Obama's lies about it making coverage more affordable, and Obama was hoping to prevent electoral losses by simply rewriting the law to fix it.  But, even former DNC Chairman Howard Dean wasn't convinced Obama had the legal authority to change Obamacare on his own.

Remember when Obama picked the 'winners' and 'losers'?  Obama's biggest claim to fame was Obamacare, which sought nominally to expand health insurance to more people but which, in reality, was a disguised bid to destroy private-sector health coverage, in a disguised bid to enact a single-payer system.  Diabolical as it sounded, the Obama team is on the record for it.  Obamacare did destroy competition, and with it, it took away freedom of choice and significantly raised insurance premiums, out-of-pocket costs, and deductibles, on most consumers and businesses.  There were plenty of winners and losers there.

Busybodies battle outbreaks of freedom.  Now that Republicans effectively have repealed Obamacare's individual mandate — the decree that every resident shall buy health insurance, whether he wants it or not — states are stepping in and pondering whether to impose their own.  So far nine states and the District of Columbia have taken up the idea, even though less than half of Democrats favor the mandate.

The nightmare of Obamacare, about to be finished off.  The best part of this week's vast tax cut reform package, set to be approved this morning, is the end of the hellish Obamacare mandate.  What a massive relief to millions of Americans, stuck between the rock of having to buy overpriced, under-delivering Obamacare health insurance policies and the hard place of paying large, gratuitous fines, which the Supreme Court ruled a tax, if they don't.  It's the most questionably legal and outrageously bad law since Prohibition because it's literally a life tax.  Obamacare law up until now requires that everyone stuck in the individual market either buy these costly policies or be taxed for being alive without one.  It's not like states requiring the purchase of car insurance, as some have claimed.  In that instance, one always has the choice to not drive a car.  One doesn't have the choice to be alive.  To Obamacare boosters, being alive is being obliged to buy Obamacare.

Coup And The Gang.  [Scroll down]  The Coup succeeded because we did not rise-up against the national government following the Obamacare signing ceremony.  The final blow came on the day the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the ACA and we did not rise-up against the national government, again.  The election of Donald Trump as President and the solidification of the GOP's control over both Houses of the Congress have not resulted in the total repeal of the Affordable Care Act.  In fact, during the debate this past year it became quite clear that the Executive and the Congressional GOP want to keep most of it in place.  In other words:  they have no problem further Legitimizing the Act's Tyranny.

Democrats — Still the Party of Slavery after all these years.  According to Melissa Harris-Perry people have "...the right to health care, and to education, and to decent housing and to quality food at all times."  Perry is certainly not the first Democrat to argue that people have a "right" to the labor of others.  I have been fielding this argument in the course of debates about health care for years.  To be fair, I think sometimes such rhetoric is simply the result of a lack of deep thinking.  But like it or not, health care, education, housing, and food are all either services or tangible items which come from the labor of real people, people who many Democrats believe should be compelled to toil without compensation to provide for the "rights" of others.  To put it more simply, people like Harris-Perry are calling for certain people to be forced to work without compensation for the benefit of others.  Anytime you designate a good or service that must be produced by someone to be a right, you make the producer a slave.

3 Ways Kathleen Sebelius Sabotaged The Rule Of Law.  [#3] The Obama administration did not just violate the law in making payments to health insurers, it violated the Constitution as well.  The text of Obamacare — "the law that is the law of the land," in Sebelius' words — included no appropriation making payments to insurers to reimburse them for cost-sharing reductions provided to individuals.  The Obama administration made the payments anyway.  A federal judge ruled against the Obama administration's actions last year, stating that they violated the Constitution for spending money without an appropriation.  While the payments have continued pending an appeal, if Sebelius worries about preserving "the law that is the law of the land," then she would support implementing the law as written, and stopping the payments immediately, unless and until Congress approves an explicit appropriation.

Dave Ramsey Says, 'ObamaCare Is Communism'.  He tells us in terms so simple that a gender studies prof could understand it:  That will hit the price of everything that you will buy.  Many of us on the Right warned Americans that Obamacare was the midpoint that would force a transition to a single-payer system.  [Video clip]

More Power, Less Principle in the Culture Wars.  [Scroll down]  The Affordable Care Act (ACA) seems tailor-made to serve elite needs.  It trumpets the meritocratic elite's presumed superiority and the public's incompetence by not only itemizing what procedures and practices government-linked health insurance would cover, but also by designating what practices and procedures people must buy.  Having thereby directed the life choices of all Americans, its advocates have chafed at any resistance.

Team Obama to use IRS data to pressure some Americans into Obamacare.  The Obama administration said Tuesday [6/21/2016] it will herd uninsured Americans into Obamacare plans this fall by targeting young adults and working with the IRS to root out people who paid a penalty for lacking coverage last year.  Officials said people who were fined under the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate can expect to receive a paper notice that explains their coverage options on the law's web-based exchanges.  The state of Massachusetts is already working with its revenue agency to locate the uninsured, and the Obama administration said those efforts appeared to be working.

Little Sisters' Gutsy Gamble Touches on an Issue That Trumps All Politics.  [O]ur country is hurtling toward a constitutional showdown over religious liberty right here in America.  That'll come in the next month or so, when the Catholic charity known as Little Sisters of the Poor makes at the Supreme Court a gutsy gamble for protection from the birth-control mandate the Obama administration has promulgated under ObamaCare.  Guess who filed the first friend-of-the-court brief on their side.  Yes, it was Orthodox Jewish rabbis.  They know that this case isn't about simply whether a group of nuns has to fill out paperwork to avoid being forced to pay for birthcontrol for their employees.

Emails Show Feds Specifically Targeted Faith Groups Under Obamacare Mandate.  Internal government emails from October 2011 and July 2012 obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services officials obsessed over which Catholic universities are exempt from the requirement to provide contraceptive coverage for students and staff.  Judicial Crisis Network chief counsel Carrie Severino said the emails reveal federal officials defined religious organizations narrowly and arbitrarily by the tax code, rather than broadly and based on a desire for religious freedom, in order to make the maximum number of such organizations subject to the contraception coverage mandate.

If You Opted NOT To Get Insurance Under ACA, Fines Are Coming Now.  This is the letter you'll get from the IRS.

Obama Nudges Government Toward Better Behavior.  [Scroll down]  In one instance, the administration worked with the Health and Human Services Department to prompt applicants who had created an account on the federal health insurance marketplace to complete their application.  The officials sent out eight versions of letters to applicants, one of which included a photo of the sender to "personalize the message," as well as an invitation to the recipient to write down when they expected to complete the application.  That letter boosted enrollments by 13.2 percent, while a letter with neither a picture nor a prompt boosted enrollment by just 1.8 percent.

Obama Unleashing Army Of 'Behavioral Economists' On Consumers.  The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau plans to add more "behavioral economists" as part of a new Obama executive order to use data mining to manipulate consumer behavior — and push his leftist agenda.  The president's new order, titled "Using Behavioral Science Insights to Better Serve the American People," calls on CFPB and other regulatory agencies to "recruit behavioral science experts" to "design government policies."  The new army of social engineers will work with the Orwellian-sounding White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team to massage consumer data and "nudge" consumers toward behaving the way Big Brother Barack wants them to behave.  That means signing up for "free" health care, for example, and buying more eco-friendly products while commuting less to reduce their carbon footprint.

Obama's pen strikes again.  The most important story you never heard anything about in the mainstream media is when President Obama picked up his fabled pen and signed an executive order on Tuesday, Sept. 15, entitled "Using Behavioral Science Insights to Better Serve the American People."  Ladies and gentlemen, you have just been "Nudged."

Adult Immunization Push: Medical Dictatorship.  Here are key quotes from the Plan: [...] "Increase the use of electronic health records (EHRs) and immunization information systems (IIS) to collect and track adult immunization data."  Translation:  expose confidential patient medical records to many doctors and government agencies, in order to discover all adults who aren't up to speed on their vaccinations — and therefore must get the shots.  Goodbye, privacy.  Goodbye, unencumbered free choice.

An Obamacare Christmas present.  New rules being proposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will give that agency enormous new powers over consumers who use the healthcare.gov website to purchase their insurance.  The proposed rules would allow CMS to automatically renew consumers' policies every year if they don't visit the website to do it themselves.  Without any knowledge of an individual's health care situation, their financials, or anything else that might affect what kind of policy they may need, the government wll choose and force you to pay for a policy that they think works best for you.

President Humpty Dumpty.  The law that Congress wrote (but didn't read, under the shameless leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi) turned out to be, as was inevitable, filled with holes and errors.  No matter:  a presidential edict a day keeps collapse away.  But the Constitution doesn't allow for government by executive edict.  That's for monarchy or dictatorship.

Unleashed Upon America: Obama Unchained!  Once in the Oval Office, Obama began incrementally implementing his socialist/progressive agenda and iron-fist pressure on Americans to conform.  Everyone, including a 175-year-old order of elderly Catholic nuns, was forced to comply with Obama's decreed anti-biblical new moral standards or face termination.  Only donors, labor unions, and favored friends of his royal Obamaness, totaling over 2,000, are unlawfully granted exemptions from his tyrannical overreaches hidden in ObamaCare.

Ted Cruz: Religious liberties under attack.  Possible Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz said Wednesday [4/2/2014] that religious Americans have a duty to take a stand against policies, such as President Barack Obama's health care law, that could threaten their liberties.

The Most Un-American Speech Barack Obama Has Ever Delivered.  Small businesses say that Obamacare is keeping them from expanding their businesses, and keeping them from hiring and growing their workforces.  They also say that Obamacare is forcing them to cut hours, which translates into lost wages, for millions of workers.  Obama mentioned none of that.  But most importantly, the Obama administration is not admitting that it used naked, brute force to coerce Americans into signing up for Obamacare.  Failing to sign up can get the IRS, with its auditors and armed agents, unleashed on you.  When faced with that prospect, sure, it's not all that hard to persuade people to do what you want.  It's a lesson that feudal chiefs, tyrants, pirates and bandits learned a long time ago.

If the contraceptive mandate passes, it will ruin a core U.S. ideology.  Does our Constitution guarantee the freedom of religion, or does it merely allow a more limited freedom to worship?  The difference is profound.  Worship is an event.  Religion is a way of life.  Specifically, does the First Amendment guarantee believers of all faiths the freedom to practice their ethics, educate their children and operate family businesses based on their religious beliefs, moral convictions and freedom of conscience?  Do Americans have the freedom to place our beliefs and ethics at the center of our business practices — or must we ignore them when we form a company?

Political correctness and the slavery of Obamacare.  Some well-known radicals have very publicly written and stated that in order for their idea of a utopian, egalitarian society to emerge in the United States, the government must control health care, which ensures the dependency of the populace on government.  Historical analysis of many countries that have gone this route demonstrates obliteration of the middle class and massive expansion of the poor, dependent class with a relatively small number of elites in control.  This is sobering information, and those who want to fundamentally change America would much rather demonize someone who is exposing this agenda than engage in a conversation that they cannot win.

President Obama warns youth: Sign up for Obamacare or we will charge you a penalty.  President Obama warned young people that if they don't sign up for Obamacare by March 31, they will face a penalty — if they can afford it.  During an interview with radio host Ryan Seacrest, Obama explained that young people might be charged a fine if they don't get insured.

Big government does too much, badly.  Around the country there have been calls to raise the minimum wage, to impose strict regulations on our businesses and to forcibly adopt a health care system that nationalizes one-sixth of our economy.  The intended role of the federal government established by our Founding Fathers was to protect the rights of all Americans.  Nowhere in our Constitution is there a clause that mandates government to act as an employer, a health care provider or a charity — nor should it.  However, over the years the role of government has shifted from protecting rights to selectively distributing them.  This, in turn, has spawned a host of redistributionist policies that have been thrust upon the public as commandments.  Many people are beginning to wonder why they are being forced to pay for their neighbors.

Will IRS bully people to sign up for Obamacare?  The individual mandate, Obamacare's requirement that all Americans have health insurance that includes "minimum essential coverage," has been in effect for two weeks now.  No one has noticed because nothing has happened.  But it will.  The mandate is the heart of Obamacare; without it, supporters believe, the system won't work.  So the Obama administration hopes millions of Americans will voluntarily comply with the mandate and purchase government-approved coverage.  If they don't do it voluntarily, they'll be punished.

Health Care Law Threatens Individual Rights & Privacy.  2013 was the last year that Americans could live and breathe in the United States legally without being compelled to insurance packages from private corporations.  Should a person fail or refuse to purchase insurance, he will be subjected to some hefty fines from the federal government, enforced by the IRS.  The fines have been subject to quite a bit of disinformation, and are more significant than most people realize.  A common talking point is that the fines are "only" $95, being spread by disinfo agents on the internet and even official radio ads released by the government.  The part that is being omitted by these people is that the $95 fine is only valid for a small group of low-income taxpayers, for the first year (2014) only.  The fines increase dramatically if the person has an average income or has a family, as well as increasing in stages in 2015 and 2016.

ObamaCare Chaos Continues.  [Scroll down]  All of it will wreak havoc on the insurance companies, many of whom richly deserve such chaos for climbing into bed with Democrats and the Obama administration in the first place.  And it happened only a week after Sebelius "urged" insurance companies to adopt additional measures.  She "suggested" that they give consumers additional time to pay their premiums past today's deadline for coverage beginning January 1, that they treat out-of-network providers as in-network, and refill prescriptions from previous plans.  If they don't adhere to such urges and suggestions?  "The regulatory fine print reveals that HHS intends to kick insurers off the exchanges if they don't obey," the Wall Street Journal reveals.

Obamacare, not the Constitution, is the law of the land.  Despite the fact that the President lied about being able to keep your healthcare plan about a dozen times on national television, and despite the fact that the taxpayers funded the website debacle to the tune of over half a billion dollars, his allies in Congress and in the media are still singing his praises while they circle the wagons around him.  The law brings one sixth of the economy under the control of the federal government, it has been changed and amended without legislative process, and it makes your well-being the actual business of the government.  It also bumped millions of Americans off their obviously inferior healthcare plans, and forces geriatrics to buy prenatal care, and single men to buy birth control coverage so they don't get pregnant and have to take man-ternity leave.  Many have called for the law's repeal, and many have tried albeit unsuccessfully.

ObamaCare Found To Restrict Where You Live And Travel.  A prominent New York insurance broker pointed out that most of the policies offered on the ObamaCare exchanges are not national networks, so "if you need routine medical services, they will not be covered when you leave your local area," as they were before.  Travel health insurance, unfortunately, only covers emergencies.  So, the broker told Paul, "a large portion of the population will have their insurance as a consideration for their mobility, which they never had before."  Imagine having to take all this into account in making decisions about where in America you want to live.

Government health-care diagnosis: Dependency.  [T]he plain truth is that for the past hundred years, an agenda of obfuscation has sought to convince Americans to accept compulsory health care — seemingly incognizant of the fact that compulsion is nothing more than a fancy word for slavery.  Demanding that a doctor or a hospital provide health care to those unwilling or incapable of paying for it is forced labor.  Taking money earned by one worker and using it to pay for health care for another worker is theft.

Obama [is] Moving to Seize Control of the Health Insurance Industry by Fiat.  "We tried," Obama will say, "but the insurance companies put their own profits above your health."  So he's covered if they decline to comply.  His base has already bought that lie, and will back him, and that's all he really cares about.  He has lost credibility with the majority.  He may cost the Democrats the Senate next year.  But he already has plans in place for losing the Senate but expanding his own power by rendering Congress irrelevant. [...] Obama has therefore set himself up to use failure to claim that the only solution is government-run, single-payer healthcare.  Which has been his goal all along.

Ted Cruz says President Obama acted in a 'dictorial' way during health care roll-out.  Sen. Ted Cruz — a vocal opponent of President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law, the Affordable Care Act — compared Obama's exemptions of certain parts of the law to a dictatorship.  "One of the most disturbing aspects of the Obama presidency is the willingness of this president to disregard the law, to ignore the law," the Texas Republican said in an interview with Fusion on Wednesday.  "You know, we were talking a few minutes ago about Obamacare.  And you mentioned it's the law of the land.  If it's the law of the land, the president shouldn't keep ignoring the law."

Obama is serious about his (bad) ideas.  Give President Obama credit:  You can't trust his promises, but when it comes to his ideas, you can be certain he means what he says.  As a politician, he's as dishonest and slippery as any we've ever seen, but as an ideological leader, he tells you the truth about what he really believes.  Thus, you can't trust that the ObamaCare Web site will be fixed by Nov. 30, but you know he meant it when he said it is "doing what it was designed to do."  What it was designed to do is fundamentally reshape the relationship of the American citizen and the government.

New Obamacare marketing — 'Sign up and shut up or the IRS will be calling'.  As the truth about Obamacare reveals itself, President Obama has admitted that he will have to "remarket and rebrand" his plan.  How does the White House think they will "remarket" Obamacare to voters?  Telling the truth could not possibly achieve good results.  The truth reveals that under Obamacare, you can't keep your current insurance plan unless Obama's Washington likes it, you can't keep your doctor or local hospital unless you are lucky, and that you will pay higher premiums and higher deductibles to get fewer choices.  Of course, there will be no chance for appeal.

None Dare Call It Fascism.  During the debate leading up to the passage of the Affordable Care Act, I talked to a number of CEOs of large health insurance companies.  I frequently heard such comments as, "Don't tell anyone I told you this" or, "If you use this information, don't mention my name" and even, "Don't tell anyone that we ever had this conversation."  As far as I can tell, things have gotten worse.  In fact I don't know any employee of any health insurance company that is willing to go on the record with any statement that is critical of the Affordable Care Act.

DC official fired after criticizing Obama change.  The DC mayor fired his insurance commissioner the day after the official objected to President Obama's move to delay health plan cancellations.  DC Insurance Commissioner William White got his walking papers Friday from a deputy to Mayor Vincent Gray, who told him the mayor "wants to go in a different direction."

D.C. insurance commissioner fired a day after questioning Obamacare fix.  A day after he questioned President Obama's decision to unwind a major tenet of the health-care law and said the nation's capital might not go along, D.C. insurance commissioner William P. White was fired.  White was called into a meeting Friday afternoon with one of Mayor Vincent C. Gray's (D) top deputies and told that the mayor "wants to go in a different direction," White told The Washington Post on Saturday [11/16/2013].

When Nudge Comes to Shove.  Today, the phrase "social engineering" has fallen into disgrace.  Yet the policy of social engineering, the idea of which goes back to the time of Plato, is still with us today, most conspicuously in the Affordable Care Act (more popularly known as Obamacare).  Within the first few weeks of its rollout, Obamacare began to show the telltale signs of social engineering:  nothing worked the way it was originally planned.  Soon the words "debacle" and "fiasco" were being routinely employed by the mainstream media to describe Obamacare's first dismal month — the same words that have been so appropriately applied to the ill-fated social engineering ventures of the past.

The other Sebelius glitch.  A screwed-up HealthCare.gov Web site isn't the only ObamaCare glitch keeping Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius up at night.  There's also the law's increasingly troubled contraceptive mandate.  At the beginning of the month, we noted the DC Circuit Court of Appeals had slapped it down, finding the mandate "trammels the right of free exercise of religion."  Now another federal appeals court has weighed in.  In a 2-to-1 decision, a Seventh Circuit panel has come down on the side of two businesses, one an Illinois-based construction company and the other an Indiana-based manufacturer.

The Progressive Degradation of Freedom.  Socialized medicine teaches that you must not value your life above that of other men.  Not only should no doctor care about your personal survival, but you yourself should stop thinking your survival is any kind of priority.  You should wait your turn in the only line in town, and be grateful if you do eventually get what you need from central command.  After all, what choice do you have?

Democrats Want Doctors To Be Owned By The State.  Don't think that ObamaCare is the Democrats' last word on health care.  They won't be content until both patients and doctors are under their command.

Sebelius: Obamacare "delay is not an option".  Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday [11/6/2013] told Congress that it isn't worth delaying the implementation of new Obamacare rules, or taking down the botched HealthCare.gov website, in spite of the ongoing problems.  "Delaying the Affordable Care Act wouldn't delay people's cancer or diabetes or Parkinson's," Sebelius testified to the Senate Finance Committee.  "For millions of Americans, delay is not an option."

The Editor says...
Obamacare medical insurance itself is not an option.  That in itself is tyranny.  Your health is your own business, not the government's.

Obamacare and Human Nature.  Obamacare was predicated on the idea that it would be techie-driven and noble in inspiration, and therefore, presto, just had to work.  But the entire program, whether one likes it or not, assumes things that simply are contrary to human nature, and therefore, unless modified, will never offer the necessary incentives for Americans.  It can only operate through increasing coercion.

Sources: White House told insurance execs to keep quiet on Obamacare.  White House officials have pressured insurance industry executives to keep quiet amid mounting criticism over Obamacare's rollout, insurance industry sources told CNN.  After insurance officials publicly criticized the implementation, White House staffers contacted insurers to express their displeasure, industry insiders said.  Multiple sources declined to speak publicly about the push back because they fear retribution.

Obama tells insurance companies to shut up, if they know what's good for them.  More thug tactics from a White House that is no stranger to them, as CNN reports insurance companies have been warned to dummy up about the ObamaCare disaster if they know what's good for them.  "What is going on is a behind-the-scenes attempt by the White House to at least keep insurers from publicly criticizing what is happening on this Affordable Care Act rollout," reports Andrew Griffin of CNN.  "Basically, if you speak out, if you are quoted, you're going to get a call from the White House, pressure to be quiet."

What does "pressure to be quiet" sound like?

Progressive Government Fails.  What made ObamaCare an exemplar of progressive politics and policy is precisely what has been on view this week in news stories and the Sebelius hearing.  It's not that the health program was to be administered by the state or that it promised benefits to all.  Liberalism did that for decades.  What made it peculiarly progressive were the mandates.  And not just the law's individual and business mandates to purchase their insurance.  The essence of modern Democratic progressivism is:  "You will participate in what we have created for you, and you will comply with the law's demands."

ObamaCare Is Greatest Expansion Ever Of Entitlement State.  Why is it that Americans don't have the freedom to choose their own health insurance?  I just don't get it.  Why must the liberal nanny state make decisions for us? [...] Here's what else I don't want:  As a 60-something, relatively healthy person, I don't want lactation and maternity services, abortion services, speech therapy, mammograms, fertility treatments or Viagra.  I don't want it.  So why should I have to tear up my existing health care plan, and then buy a plan with far more expensive premiums and deductibles and with services I don't need or want?  Why?  Because Team Obama says I have to.  And that's not much of a reason.  It's not freedom.

How You and Your Family Can Escape Obamacare.  The Affordable Care Act runs more than 2,600 pages and now hundreds of thousands of regulations.  No one knows every single provision that is in the law, which Congress did not even bother to read before passing it.  Among its most controversial provisions is the mandate forcing Americans to purchase health insurance or face fines from the IRS.  Those fines can even take the form of wage garnishment.  Americans who fail to comply and pay the fine can end up in jail.  There is, though, a provision buried in Obamacare that provides a way out of having to comply with the individual mandate.

Don't Sign, Don't Pay the Fine.  [Scroll down]  Now I know what some of you are thinking.  If I don't sign and I don't pay the fine, the IRS could come after me.  Maybe, but by the time that happens, ObamaCare will be a corpse.  Moreover, I'm betting a ton of Americans would be willing to pay that fine, plus interest if necessary, to guarantee ObamaCare's demise.  And that's assuming the IRS can come after you.  In order for that to happen, they'd have to prove you refused to sign up for the program.

A Criminal Enterprise Called the Democratic Party.  Obamacare is despotism in action.  As [Clark M.]Neilly says, if the government can order you to buy health insurance you may not need or want and fine you if you refuse, you are no longer living in a republic with a functioning Constitution.  And this is the reason the Tea Party movement began and why a handful of Senators and Representatives, elected with Tea Party support, have been holding out, seeking to defund, delay or repeal Obamacare.  If Obamacare succeeds, America will fail.  It is already playing havoc with the economy.

Former Obama Official Warns Americans: 'Back Off' Opposition To Obamacare.  It was enough to make a conservative yearn for the good old Bush-era days of "Dissent Is Patriotic" ... For there on Morning Joe today [10/18/2013] was former Obama official Melody Barnes, warning Americans to "back off" their Reagan-inspired opposition to big government in general and Obamacare in particular.  Instead, instructed Barnes, Americans should focus on making Obamacare work.

Obamacare Exchange Confirms: 'We Are Required to Respond to Certain Requests from Law Enforcement'.  An email had been sent to the MHC on October 3 requesting clarification of the policy, and included these inquires:  Does that include both federal and state authorities?  What type of information from the application might be of interest to law enforcement and/or state/federal auditors?  However, no response was received before the story was published.

The Founders vs. ObamaCare.  The Founding Fathers would not be condemning House Republicans for their effort to defund ObamaCare.  They would be applauding them.  On the subject of who authorizes spending, the Constitution could not be more clear.  According to Article 1, Section 7, "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives."  It is the job of the House of Representatives to spend, or not spend, the people's money.  Based solely on the huge deficits our nation now faces, they have been up to this point derelict in their duty.

ObamaCare: It's all about control.  On health care, the president's pile of broken promises keeps getting higher.  Consider this gem from Aug. 20, 2009:  "Let's be clear about the fact that nobody has proposed anything close to a government takeover of health care."  Well, yes, somebody did.  President Obama is now well on his way to orchestrating the federal government's takeover of Americans' health care. [...] Virtually all key health care decisions will be made by government officials.  Not you.  Not your employer.  Not your insurance company.

Dr. Ben Carson Calls Obamacare 'Worst Thing Since Slavery' at Values Voter Summit.  At today's Values Voter Summer, Dr. Ben Carson, fresh off signing a new contributor contract with Fox News, told the crowd that Obamacare is "the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery."  In fact, Carson said, "in a way, it is slavery, because it is making all of us subservient to the government."  He went to explain that the Affordable Care Act "was never about health care, it was about control."

Brazen Claims to Executive Power.  The health program the President is imposing on us is not the Affordable Care Act.  The president has dismembered and mangled it.  Gone is the employer mandate, the cap on out of pocket expenses, income verification and over half the deadlines specified in the law.  The President delayed or did away with these features, without asking Congress.  Illegally.  Then he added 1,472 waivers and connived a subsidy for members of Congress that no one else in American earning $174,000 a year could get.  The Supreme Court has ruled twice that presidents cannot delay, amend, and repeal parts of laws.

Are these the people you want running your health care?  The government isn't "giving" us health care.  We already have it and the reason we already have it is that we paid for it, we invented it, we invested in it.  But, once it flows through Washington, what are we going to do when Washington gets mad at us and decides to teach us a lesson.  When the police car is pulling up to the ER door not to help somebody into it but to put up cones to keep us out of it?

Obamacare's Unconstitutional Origins.  Of all the fraud perpetrated in the passage of Obamacare — and the fraud has been epic — the lowest is President Obama's latest talking point that the Supreme Court has endorsed socialized medicine as constitutional.  To the contrary, the justices held the "Affordable" Care Act unconstitutional as Obama presented it to the American people:  namely, as a legitimate exercise of Congress's power to regulate interstate commerce.  To sustain this monstrosity, Chief Justice John Roberts had to shed his robes and put on his legislator cap.  He rewrote Obamacare as a tax — the thing the president most indignantly promised Americans that Obamacare was not.

What Is the President Willing to Give Up?  The insightful James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal coined the Taranto Principle when he noticed that the Democrats and the left in general are encouraged to act absurdly by the fawning mainstream media.  It is the media that have encouraged Democrats to demand of Republicans negotiations while the Democrats refuse to negotiate.  Thus the Republicans are expected to accept the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act while being left with nothing to negotiate.

Presidential Delusion.  This is a president who did not meet with the Republican minority leader in the Senate until a year and a half into his presidency; who excluded Republicans from any part in the shaping of the ObamaCare legislation, and forced it through on a strictly party-line vote; who excluded Republicans from any input on the stimulus bill; who invited Paul Ryan to a conference on health care and then insulted him to his face when Ryan could not reply; who accused Republicans of wanting only to deny health care to 30 million Americans; who called them "bitter clingers," and told his supporters to get in their faces.

I Will Not Comply.  Like most members of the Congress that passed it and, undoubtedly, the president of the United States who signed it, I have not read the entirety of the ill-named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  Yet there is one aspect concerning that legislation of which I am certain:  I will not comply.  I will not comply because I am a free citizen of the United States, not a subject of its government.

ObamaCare: The Latest and Greatest [Assault on] the Constitution.  In reality, there are three types of people who actually do support ObamaCare:  those who support single-payer, those who ignorantly deny that it is an effort to institute single-payer, and those who are oblivious to the implications of single-payer altogether, but stand to benefit from its implementation.

ObamaCare's Mandate To Shut Down Little Sisters Of The Poor.  A group of nuns dedicated to caring for the elderly poor is suing to prevent an uncaring administration from shutting down their compassionate order over their refusal to obey the contraception mandate.  There is no clearer or sadder example of the Obama administration's war on the First Amendment's guarantee of religious liberty than the demand by the Department of Health and Human Services to violate their religious consciences or pay heavy fines.

Update:
The Little Sisters of the Poor will be missed.  They came to Richmond in 1874.  For 145 years, they have cared for our elderly poor.  They moved to their current location, St. Joseph's Home, in Henrico County in 1976.  They have continued to serve the Lord by showing love, dignity and grace to the old, the ill and the poor of every race, color and creed.  But now they are leaving us.  Their numbers have grown too small to continue their mission.  "It's not because we don't love them [the residents]," Sister Jeanne Mary told the RTD [Richmond Times-Dispatch].  "It's very sad to see such a mission which is so needed today is diminishing because there are very few to follow us."

Taking Aim at Obamacare's Coercive Core.  Psychologically (as well as rhetorically), the individual mandate is very important to the left.  Obamacare is all about coercion — about forcing people to do things they don't freely choose to do — and the individual mandate serves as its coercive core.  It's what allows Obama to grasp onto the thinnest reed of legitimacy when describing Obamacare as offering "universal coverage," despite the CBO's estimate that, even after ten years and $1.8 trillion, Obamacare would cover less than 45 percent of the uninsured (at the whopping 10-year cost of $72,000 per newly insured person).  That's a far cry from "universal coverage."  But one can think of it — and describe it — as "universal," so long as one is forcing every American, as a matter of federal law, to do the government's bidding.

The grit and gumption to resist Obamacare.  Today, the freedom of Americans to control their own health care needs is being threatened by massive governmental interference. Those attempting to fundamentally change America are attempting to take control of the most important thing any of us possesses:  our health.  It often comes at a heavy cost, but freedom is worth fighting for.

Let ObamaCare Collapse.  This thing called "ObamaCare" carries on its back all the justifications, hopes and dreams of the entitlement state.  The chance is at hand to let its political underpinnings collapse, perhaps permanently.  If ObamaCare fails, or seriously falters, the entitlement state will suffer a historic loss of credibility with the American people.  It will finally be vulnerable to challenge and fundamental change.  But no mere congressional vote can achieve that.  Only the American people can kill ObamaCare.

Obama Wants Your Sexual History.  Doctors are being turned into government agents, where they're pressured financially to ask questions they consider inappropriate and unnecessary and violate their Hippocratic Oath to keep patients' records confidential.  Going to the doctor can be embarrassing.  But for your own good, you confide in your doctor, as you wouldn't anyone else.  What is happening here is different.

Government Seeking Inclusion of 'Social and Behavioral' Data in Health Records.  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) wants to require health care providers to include "social and behavioral" data in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and to link patient's records to public health departments, it was announced last week.  Health care experts say the proposal raises additional privacy concerns over Americans' personal health information, on top of worries that the Obamacare "data hub" could lead to abuse by bureaucrats and identify theft.

Feds are building a detective squad to enforce Obamacare's rules.  More than 1,600 new employees hired by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources in the aftermath of Obamacare's passage include just two described as 'consumer safety' officers, but 86 tasked with 'criminal investigating' — indicating that the agency is building an army of detectives to sleuth out violations of a law that many in Congress who supported it still find confusing.

HHS will spend $224 million in grants to pay for home inspection programs.
Will Obamacare Enforcers Appear on Your Doorstep?  [Scroll down]  Since government schools were "fundamentally transformed" from centers of learning to disseminators of socialist propaganda, more and more parents have turned to home schooling. [...] Thus, the HHS visiting program may "help parents succeed" by forcing them to send their kids to public schools, probably based on pretexts involving socialization and corporal punishment.  It goes without saying, of course, that the bureaucrats conducting home inspections will regard any house containing a firearm — including those which have been legally purchased — as the very antithesis of the kind of "social and physical environment" in which an "at-risk" child should reside.

Obamacare Allows Government To Use Force To Do Home Inspections.  [W]hen Obama and the liberals were trying to sell Obamacare to the American people, they certainly didn't mention that it would mean hostile government goons could force their way into your home so that soulless, unelected bureaucrats can micromanage your life, did they?  Every few weeks, some fresh outrage from the bill is revealed.  So, how many more of these ugly little surprises are there in the law?

ObamaCare Will Punish The Good Samaritan.  No good deed will go unpunished under ObamaCare.  If a charitable hospital treats a homeless person who staggers into the emergency room without insurance, it may be punished with taxes and fines. [...] Right now, about 60% of the 6,000 or so hospitals in the U.S. are tax-exempt nonprofits, while 25% are government-owned.  The rest — fewer than 1,000 — are for-profit.  But this may change under provisions of ObamaCare to be enforced by the IRS.

Burn your Obamacare card.  Last week, the Obama administration was forced by industry pressure to delay the health care law's employer mandate.  It's a sign the time is ripe for Americans to rise up and exert popular pressure to delay the law's other major mandate:  the one on them as individuals.  Starting six months from now, the individual mandate will take effect.  Most Americans will be required to show proof of "acceptable" insurance coverage, as defined by Washington — in effect, a health care draft card.

Using ObamaCare To Create A Permanent Democratic Majority.  If you have to keep it a secret, you probably shouldn't be doing it.  But the California legislature and the new Covered California health insurance exchange are conspiring to keep secret how they will dole out more than half a billion dollars in taxpayer dollars to contractors.  The lion's share of the money is going for what the exchange budget terms "outreach."  In truth, the money is going to build Democratic Party enrollment.

When everything is a crime, government data mining matters.  Prosecutors have become kings, with the ability to find a crime committed by just about anyone.  Data mining and access to internet activity can help find terrorists, but it also can be used to find crimes which were not previously known to have been committed by political opponents.  A "find the target first, then find the crime" political approach requires access to information of an unprecedented level.  Which is exactly what is happening.  The issue goes beyond the NSA programs.  Obamacare is a form of data mining.

Obamacare is an instrument of coercion.
Smoke? Overweight? New regulations could raise your insurance rates.  ObamaCare does prevent insurers from charging more for pre-existing conditions, or from charging as much as they currently do for older people who use more health care.  But when it comes to smoking and being overweight as well as other health problems, if employees don't participate in wellness programs, they could pay more.

Why are Obamacare supporters attacking job creators?  On a Monday morning in March, small business owner Mike Ruffer told a group at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C, how his eight Five Guys Burgers and Fries franchise restaurants in North Carolina were faring under the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.  Five hours later, the backlash was so intense he had to wonder if that 15-minute speech might kill his company.  In fact, Mr. Ruffer is the most recent victim in a troubling pattern of seemingly orchestrated campaigns to silence small business owners who speak out about President Obama's agenda.

Total Non Cooperation with IPAB!  The Medicare Independent Payment Advisory Board needs to be stopped in the cause of preserving American freedom.  As passed under Obamacare, it is a super bureaucracy with quasi-legislative authority that even trumps a presidential veto and is immue from judicial and administrative review.

Obamacare's Pathway to Creeping Control by the State.  One of the gravest problems with Obamacare has nothing specifically to do with health care.  Sure, Obamacare will destroy this country's health care system.  It may one day kill me or you.  But it will also have a profound effect on the relationship you and I have with our government.

Obama's Tyranny: Petty or Something More Sinister?  If you recall, the Affordable Care Act was never seen before it was voted upon.  It was passed in the dead of night on Christmas Eve and passed only because of the greatest political bribery and blackmail campaign ever seen in a city that has seen it all.  Tyranny, anyone?

Obamacare will eventually invade every private transaction, and the nanny state will have its way.
Food co-op ObamaCare fight.  Members of Brooklyn's Greene Hill Food Co-op want to ban Eden Foods' soy milk because its CEO is suing the Obama administration over a mandate forcing companies to cover employee-birth control.

CVS asks workers to submit medical information or pay extra health care fine.  CVS is coming under fire for a controversial new policy that requires all employees who use its health plan to submit vital information or pay extra for health insurance.  The pharmacy chain has told all of its nearly 200,000 workers on its health care plan that they have until May 1 to get a health screening and report back to the company their weight, height, blood pressure and other levels if they don't want their rates to go up.

Insurance as Punishment.  If you can't force people to do what you want, force them to buy insurance:  That seems to be the strategy of the liberal left in the Obama era.  We refer not only to the ObamaCare health-insurance mandate but to the latest bright idea under consideration in mostly Democrat-dominated state capitals.

Sebelius: ObamaCare is the law of the land, so you might as well help us implement it.  Or, in other words:  Just give in already to the power of the all-knowing and all-powerful bureaucracy.  Trust us.

The Canary in the Culture.  It may seem that asking Catholics and others who believe that abortion-inducing chemicals are tools of murder and as such something they cannot directly pay for is not that big of a deal.  That's precisely why the HHS mandate is the canary.  It's true that the HHS mandate is not on the same level as China's forced abortion policy.  But the core philosophical assumption that powers the HHS mandate, even in its latest revision, would allow the government to institute a forced abortion policy or reinstitute slavery.

You must not stand on your own two feet — even for one day.
IRS: Parents Must Pay Federal Fine for Uninsured Kids.  In new, final regulations issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said that parents must pay a federal fine under Obamacare if their children or dependent spouses are uninsured for any part of the year.

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family.  In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.  Under Obamacare, Americans will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.

What We (Supposedly) Don't Know about Guns.  One of the president's new executive orders will allow the Centers for Disease Control to conduct gun research again.  The CDC is a horrible choice for this project, both because gun violence is has nothing to do with "disease control" and because the agency has a track record of poor research in this area.  Also, the holes in our knowledge are much smaller than some on the left would like to think — and many of the questions that have not been answered cannot be answered, simply because the tools of social science are not up to the task.

Rand Paul takes on Obama.  Capitol Hill sources familiar with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told Human Events that the senator will immediately introduce legislation to declare null and void any Executive Order issued by President Barack Obama that infringes on the powers and duties of Congress and the Second Amendment.  One troubling Executive Order announced Jan. 16 by the president was No. 16 on the list, described in a White House press release to "clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes."

Congressman: Obamacare, WH Gun Control 'Intertwining'.  Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) expressed concerns about the "intertwining" of President Barack Obama's gun control push and his 2009 healthcare overhaul legislation Obamacare in a Wednesday evening statement.  Huelskamp worries that the administration will coordinate controversial parts of Obamacare that may invade patient privacy with the president's new strident gun control efforts.

Whole Foods CEO says Obama healthcare law is 'more like fascism'.  The CEO of Whole Foods Market said President Obama's healthcare law is more like "fascism" than "socialism," a parallel he drew in 2009, to some backlash.  John Mackey made the remark in an interview Wednesday with NPR.  "Technically speaking, it's more like fascism," Mackey said of the Affordable Care Act.  "Socialism is where the government owns the means of production.  In fascism, the government doesn't own the means of production, but they do control it, and that's what's happening with our healthcare programs and these reforms."

Whole Foods threatened with boycott by liberal customers after CEO compares Obamacare to 'fascism'.  Organic supermarket chain Whole Foods is facing a backlash from many of it's more liberal customers after founder and CEO John Mackey compared Obamacare to 'fascism' in a radio interview on Wednesday [1/16/2013].  In an interview to promote his new book, Mackey was quizzed about an article he had written in The Wall Street Journal in 2009 that liken Obamacare to socialism.

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey: Comparing Obamacare to Fascism Was a 'Poor Choice of Words'.  Last night [1/17/2013], Whole Foods CEO John Mackey went "On the Record" to discuss Obamacare, which he recently referred to as "more like fascism" than socialism.  He received an angry backlash from many Whole Foods customers after the comment and is now apologizing for his "poor choice of words."

Whole Foods' CEO Mackey Is Right — ObamaCare Is Like Fascism.  In 2009, when Whole Foods CEO John Mackey in a Wall Street Journal op-ed compared the health care "public option" then under consideration by Congress to socialism — a nationalized economic system wherein the government owns the means of production — hardly anyone batted an eyelash. [...] But it was hardly the response Whole Foods got when on Jan. 16 in an NPR interview, Mackey was asked a follow-up question on what he thought about the current law.

Obamacare and My Daughter.  Elections have consequences.  The president signed a law which forces citizens to purchase a product simply on the virtue that they are alive.  Our Supreme Court upheld the law, giving the government the power to tax inactivity.  When the law is fully implemented, we may see a shift from our role as citizens to subjects.

The Brutality of Obama and the Left.  [Scroll down]  Telling the truth about ObamaCare is risky.  We see bullied government officials.  Bullied health insurers and providers.  Even a stage-four cancer patient, Edie Sunby, who had the nerve to recount in an op-ed that the ACA cost her insurance coverage, was bullied by the White House.  Sunby was one of millions of Americans forced out of insurance policies.

Obama Makes the IRS Free Speech Cop Too.  As if the Internal Revenue Service did not have enough to do with administering Obamacare, President Obama wants to give it another job:  regulating the free speech of his political opponents, while leaving the political activities of the president's friends untouched.  The new proposed IRS regulations were placed in the Federal Register the day after the Thanksgiving holiday, and comments on them are due by the end of February.

Oregon exchange is stifling partners with 'politically-motivated gag order'.  The state most likely to be named the country's worst Obamacare exchange is reportedly banning its partners from saying almost anything negative about it in a broad confidentiality agreement.  Radio host Lars Larson and his show's legal expert Bruce McCain report that in order to contract with Cover Oregon, so-called "community partners" are forced to sign a far-reaching non-disparagement agreement that could put the organizations at risk of losing all their grant money if Oregon state officials decide they disagree with any unfavorable statements about the Obamacare exchange.

Twitter keeps suspending account critical of Obamacare.  Twitter has repeatedly suspended an account critical of the Affordable Care Act.  The account, @mycancellation, was just getting started when Twitter suspended it — twice — before reinstating the account late Saturday night [11/2/2013].  The purpose of @mycancellation or mycancellation.com was to allow some of the millions of Americans who are losing their health insurance to post pictures of themselves with their cancellation letters.

Conservative group launches website to collect Obamacare cancellation notices.  Hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country have reported receiving cancellation notices from their health insurance companies because of Obamacare.  Now, the Independent Women's Voice, the sister organization to the conservative Independent Women's Forum, has launched MyCancellation.com, a website dedicated to collecting and displaying the cancellation notices that Americans are getting because of the health care law.

Twitter takes down photo feed of people who've lost health insurance since Obamacare.  More than 3.5 million Americans have lost their individual health insurance plans as the Obamacare system nears full implementation, and an irreverent website and Twitter account is showing off their cancellation letters.  But the project, mycancellation.com, has had a rocky start, with Twitter freezing its account at least three times since it launched last week.

Former Obama Official Warns Americans: 'Back Off' Opposition To Obamacare.  It was enough to make a conservative yearn for the good old Bush-era days of "Dissent Is Patriotic" ... For there on Morning Joe today [10/18/2013] was former Obama official Melody Barnes, warning Americans to "back off" their Reagan-inspired opposition to big government in general and Obamacare in particular.  Instead, instructed Barnes, Americans should focus on making Obamacare work.

White House Declares ObamaCare Truth Telling A Firing Offense.  One can be forgiven for wondering if this White House has some wimpy aversion to firing anyone, given the scale of unpunished blundering seen in the Benghazi attack, the IRS suppression of political dissent, the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal and now the incompetence of the ObamaCare rollout.  But there does seem to be one offense where a red line has been drawn:  telling the truth.  That's what cost ObamaCare telephone operator Earline Davis her job.

GOP could be trapped by Democrat demands to fix Obamacare.  In 2009 and 2010, President Obama and his party took a health care system in which 85 percent had insurance coverage, and blew it up.  Now, with Obamacare causing misery right and left, those same Democrats are screaming, "You can't go back!"  The national health care scheme they designed is so complex and has already embedded itself so deeply in the health care system, they argue, that it can never be repealed.  The only course now is for lawmakers of both parties to "fix" Obamacare's problems.
