President Trump vs the Deep State

Timely news and commentary:

FBI's Kash Patel must make good on promise to reform the bureau — or it will be just another hollow sound bite.  New FBI Director Kash Patel promised "a complete and total annihilation of the weaponization of justice and the politicization of intelligence" when he spoke at a law-and-order event at the Department of Justice on Friday.  "We have a new FBI, and I'm humbled to be its leader," he said.  A lot rests on Patel being able to make good on his promise to reform the bureau, and as a former public defender, national security prosecutor and counterterrorism official in the first Trump administration, there is nobody more qualified and clear-eyed about the challenge.  But his promise requires that the injustices of the past inside the FBI are remedied, or they will remain a festering sore.

FBI Director Kash Patel:  Swatting 'Will Not Be Tolerated'.  On Friday, FBI Director Kash Patel took to his official X account to condemn the increasingly frequent practice of "Swatting," or making false calls to law enforcement, resulting in the possibly very dangerous deployment of special units.  [Advertisement]  [Tweet]  Mr. Patel said: ["]I want to address the alarming rise in 'Swatting' incidents targeting media figures.  The FBI is aware of this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.  This isn't about politics — weaponizing law enforcement against ANY American is not only morally reprehensible but also endangers lives, including those of our officers.  That will not be tolerated.["]

FBI Director Kash Patel Responds to the Anti-Climactic Jeffrey Epstein Document Dump Today.  It was not a good day for the Trump Justice Department.  No major scandal erupted, but this Jeffrey Epstein document dump, which Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed would contain some sick stuff, was hardly newsworthy.  Almost everything was public knowledge, the lion's share coming from documents submitted into evidence during Ghislaine Maxwell's trial a couple of years ago.  Maxwell was Epstein's right-hand woman who facilitated the child sex trafficking antics, which made the New York financier infamous before his 'suicide' in August of 2019.  Epstein is a convicted child sex predator, but his ties to the wealthy and powerful allowed him to escape justice for years.  Based on the reactions to the document dump, FBI Director Kash Patel knows he has to work to set the record straight because whatever this was today, it wasn't it.

The Editor says...
If you believe Mr. Epstein killed himself in a maximum-security prison cell, you won't be surprised when all of his records spontaneously burst into flames inside an FBI vault.

Kash Patel: reshaping the FBI.  Critics of the FBI have long argued that the agency's leadership has been compromised by political agendas.  Whether it was the handling of the Russia probe or other politically charged investigations, many have believed that the Bureau has failed to live up to its impartial role as an institution that serves the public interest.  [Kash] Patel's promise to eliminate retribution against political opponents and lead with fairness and justice is a direct response to these concerns.  His focus on transparency and accountability is key to rebuilding the public's trust in the FBI.

No Way Out.  Sunday evening after the 60-Minutes pity party, came the pretty astounding news that former Secret Service agent and now podcaster Dan Bongino is appointed Deputy Director of the FBI.  Astounding because Mr. Bongino has documented the worst blob crimes of recent years in a series of books that comprehensively presents the entire tapestry of lawlessness in microscopic detail.  He knows the whole sordid, epic story, all the names, and all the money trails in every obscure corner of the worst aggregate matrix of scandals in US history.  Believe me when I tell you, this is like a death sentence for the blob.  For instance, Mr. Bongino is acutely aware of what went down on J-6, 2021, when a supposed pipe-bomb was "found" at the DNC headquarters, the part it was supposed to play in the larger J-6 op to rid Washington of Mr. Trump, and the lying confabulations of former FBI Director Christopher Wray afterward.  Now he is in a position to compel current and former FBI officials to answer questions about that, and much more, from the Crossfire Hurricane scam to the shenanigans in Judge Juan Merchan's court last summer.

Bongino To Join Patel at FBI as Deputy Director.  President Trump has tapped Dan Bongino, a hard-charging Trump supporter and one of America's most popular and prolific conservative commentators, to serve as deputy director of the FBI.  A top podcaster, former Fox News host, New York City Police Department officer, and 12-year veteran of the Secret Service, Bongino is a close friend of FBI Director Kash Patel and will now serve as his right-hand man at the FBI, Trump announced on Truth Social Sunday.

Dan Bongino Named Deputy Director of the FBI.  The FBI is about to be transformed.  Former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino was named FBI Deputy Director on Sunday.  Bongino, 50, served as a Secret Service agent from 1999-2011.  Newly sworn-in FBI Director Kash Patel and Dan Bongino are a dream team.  President Trump praised Dan Bongino in a Truth Social post on Sunday evening.

Trump's choice of Bongino to join Patel at the FBI as its deputy came just three days after the Senate confirmed Patel's nomination, 49 to 51, with Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine the only two Republicans to vote against him.  The appointment is the latest sign that Trump is committed to aggressively cleaning house at the FBI.

New FBI Director Kash Patel plans to move up to 1,500 workers out of Washington, AP source says.  New FBI Director Kash Patel has told senior officials that he plans to relocate up to 1,000 employees from Washington to field offices around the country and move an additional 500 to a large bureau facility in Huntsville, Alabama, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions.  The plans were communicated Friday, the same day Patel was sworn in on the campus of the White House, and are in keeping with his oft-stated vision of reducing the size of the FBI's footprint in Washington and having more of a presence in offices in other cities.

Trump [is] expected to name Kash Patel as acting ATF director:  Sources.  President Donald Trump is expected to name FBI Director Kash Patel as the acting head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.  A Justice Department official told ABC News that Patel is expected to be sworn in as acting director early next week.  The White House didn't respond to a request for comment.  The move comes after Attorney General Pam Bondi fired the ATF's general counsel, Pamela Hicks, late last week.  Bondi said in an interview with Fox News on Friday that it was because the agency's lead lawyer was "targeting gun owners."

President Trump [is] Expected to Appoint Kash Patel as Acting ATF Head.  President Trump is set to make a big change!  He's looking to appoint FBI Director Kash Patel as the acting head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), sources say.  Patel is expected to be sworn in next week.  The move follows Attorney General Pam Bondi's firing of ATF's general counsel, Pamela Hicks.

Kash Patel immediately transfers 1500 FBI agents out of DC, sends 500 to Alabama.  FBI Director Kash Patel faces a monumental task in restoring public trust to what used to be the nation's premier law enforcement agency and after only a day on the job, he's already putting his stamp on the Bureau.  According to media reports, Patel is shaking things up by informing managers that around 1,500 personnel will be transferred out of Washington, D.C. to FBI field offices throughout the country, with 500 destined for the facility at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.  "This will include streamlining our operations at headquarters while bolstering the presence of field agents across the nation," Patel told FBI employees on Friday morning, according to The Washington Post which cited the now customary anonymous sources.  [Tweet]

Kash Patel: "There Will Be Accountability Within The FBI".  [Video clip and transcript.]

Kash Patel:  The FBI's Reformer-in-Chief.  On February 20, 2025, the United States Senate confirmed Kash Patel as the ninth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a decision that marks not merely a changing of the guard but a seismic restoration of accountability to an agency long adrift.  At 45, Patel — youngest ever to hold the post, first Asian-American, and an unapologetic patriot — steps into a storm of controversy and opportunity. [...] Patel's journey to this moment is a testament to the grit and clarity that define him.  Born to Indian immigrants who fled ethnic strife in East Africa, he embodies the American Dream — a self-made man who rose from public defender to counterterrorism prosecutor, then to a key architect of accountability under President Donald Trump.  His authorship of the 2018 Nunes Memo exposed the FBI's misuse of FISA surveillance against Trump campaign aide Carter Page, peeling back layers of institutional rot that had festered under the guise of national security.

Kash Patel Is Already Making Huge Changes at the FBI.  Newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel is on fire.  After his swearing-in, he gave a not-so-subtle speech, showing that he's ready to handle the media's smears.  "I know the media's in here, and if you have a target, that target's right here," he said, pointing to himself.  "It's not the men and women at the FBI."  "You've written everything you possibly can about me that's fake, malicious, slanderous, and defamatory," he continued.  "Keep it coming — bring it on.  But leave the men and women, the FBI out of it.  They deserve better."  He also promised that a new day at the FBI has started.  "I promise you the following, there will be accountability within the FBI and outside of the FBI, and we will do it through rigorous constitutional oversight — starting this weekend."  Kash continued, "I am living the American dream, and anyone that thinks the American dream is dead, just look right here.  You're talking to a first-generation Indian kid who's about to lead the law enforcement community, the greatest nation on God's green earth."  [Tweet with video clip]

Kash Patel Orders 1,500 FBI Agents and Staff Out of the Building on Day One.  FBI Director Kash Patel followed up a fiery introductory speech on Friday with equally fiery action.  He ordered 1,500 staff and agents to be transferred from its Washington, DC, headquarters to various locations across the nation.  Some 1,000 agents and staff will be reassigned to cities the Trump administration has designated higher crime locations where they can fight crime rather than engage in political shenanigans.  Another 500 staff will be reassigned to Huntsville, Alabama, which is the DC equivalent of exile to Siberia.

Democrats silent on Patel as first 'person of color' FBI director despite previous DEI emphasis.  Democrats have remained notably silent since Kash Patel became the first "person of color" to head the FBI, after previously emphasizing diversity and representation on the campaign trail and during the Biden era.  Patel, a fervent Trump ally, underwent a rocky path to confirmation, with Democrats on the panel attempting to delay the vote earlier this month and continuing to protest his nomination into Thursday.  Despite the criticism, Democrats have yet to make note of Patel, who is Indian-American, making history as the first "person of color" FBI director.

Kash Patel Issues Fiery Statement with a Dire Warning to America's Enemies After Being Confirmed as FBI Director.  [T]he U.S. Senate voted to confirm Kash Patel as America's next FBI Director.  His confirmation did not come easily.  Two of the Senate's lead RINOs, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, voted against him, while every single Democrat voted no.  Surprisingly, fellow RINO Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky voted yes.  The Senate broke the filibuster on Patel's nomination in a 51-47 vote earlier on Thursday.  Now, Patel has released his first comments since his confirmation, and MAGA Nation will love them.  His fiery statement should also send shivers down the spines of the Deep State and America's enemies.

Now that he's confirmed, Kash Patel has a Herculean task ahead of him.  What became very apparent to conservative Americans beginning in 2016 was that the FBI was no longer functioning as a non-partisan law enforcement agency or even an agency that believed it was benefitting America.  Instead, what we witnessed with people like James Comey and Peter Strzok in the headlines was an organization that was entirely dedicated to advancing the interests of the Democrat party.  With the Russia collusion hoax, the FBI had an open "Get Trump" agenda. (Remember that the FBI knew immediately that the Steele Dossier was a bunch of horsepucky.) That pro-Democrat party agenda became even more apparent after January 6, when the FBI dedicated 38% of its agents to hunting down any American who set foot on Capitol grounds or, after being waved in by the Capitol police, reverently toured the interior while staying carefully within the velvet ropes:  [Tweet with video clip]  And, of course, the FBI rededicated itself during the Biden years to its "Get Trump" agenda.

Kash Patel Is Perfect For FBI Director Because He Already Fought The Deep State And Won.  Should the Senate confirm Kash Patel as FBI director, it will have clinched the second of perhaps the two most vital nominations President Donald Trump will make, alongside Tulsi Gabbard.  These are the two individuals after Trump with the near-singular ability to prevent us from devolving into a total police state of the kind that has already targeted them.  President Trump was elected in no small part as a rebuke to a national security apparatus and intelligence agencies that have been weaponized and politicized against dissenters from ruling-class orthodoxy.  From Russiagate and the fostering of the Censorship-Industrial Complex, to the first Trump impeachment and the Jan. 6 inquisition, to the targeting of all from faithful Christians to pro-life activists and parents concerned about their kids being indoctrinated in Marxism in school, increasingly our deep state has operated like our political foes' secret police.

Another Sneaky Little Secret About the FBI.  FBI director nominee Kash Patel has often joked that on day one in office he would shut down FBI Headquarters and reopen it the next day as a Museum of the Deep State.  Rueful joke aside, he may not know how close to the truth he really is.  The FBI has a sneaky little secret that has probably escaped the attention of its most ardent fans at DOJ.  It's even possible that the cloistered and suited gangsters on the 7th Floor don't even know how easy it could be to topple the entire enterprise.  The FBI has been in the middle of countless scandals, illegal behavior, lying on warrants, spying on people when they have no basis, making up charges, setting perjury traps, bungling Ruby Ridge and Waco with deadly results, and investigating people like President Trump.

Restoring the FBI's mission: a plan for reform.  Director-designee Kash Patel already knows a hard truth:  The FBI's problems run deeper than a handful of scandals.  Over the past decade, the leadership from Washington has caused the Bureau to drift from its core mission — protecting Americans, enforcing the law without bias, and safeguarding national security.  Instead of focusing on terrorism, violent crime, and border security, leadership diverted resources toward politically charged investigations.  The damage is evident — public trust in the FBI has been deeply shaken.  To restore credibility, Patel must refocus the Bureau on its core mission with a bold, results-driven reform agenda that prioritizes operational excellence and national security.

Trump admin tells senior FBI ranks to resign or be fired.  The Trump administration has told top officials at the FBI to resign or lose their jobs, Fox News has learned.  The exact number has not been disclosed, but the ultimatum was allegedly given to senior employees promoted under former FBI Director Christopher A. Wray.  President Donald Trump's administration took these steps as his nominee to lead the bureau, Kash Patel, said he would not begin his tenure with retribution or focus on past transgressions.  "I have no interest, no desire and will not, if confirmed, go backwards.  There will be no politicization at the FBI.  There will be no retributive actions taken," Patel said at the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Reforming the FBI the smart way.  Firing administrators whose actions are clearly irredeemable is a good and necessary beginning, but [Kash] Patel is going to have to be careful not to throw out salvageable people.  I've long hoped the majority of line agents are honest, ethical people striving to defend and protect America.  The problem is when two show up on your doorstep — they usually travel in pairs — how can you possibly know they're ethical?  Take their word for it?  Experience teaches even the FBI Director's word is worthless.  Given the last four years, Americans can reasonably believe if an FBI employee's lips are moving, they're lying.  Still, even some agents who worked on infamous, politically weaponized, cases probably did it because they have families to feed, mortgages and utilities to pay and pensions to earn.

It's time to clean house at the corrupt and politicized FBI.  As FBI Director-designate Kash Patel faces an utterly predictable tide of pseudo-outrage from corrupt leftist liars like Sen. Adam Schiff, it's important to remember why — as Patel outlined in his blunt and utterly correct statement Thursday to the Senate Judiciary Committee at his confirmation hearing.  He wants to "make sure we don't have 100,000 rapes in this country next year, make sure we don't have 100,000 drug overdoses from Chinese fentanyl and Mexican heroin, and make sure we don't have 17,000 homicides.  "Those numbers need to be cut in half immediately, and the public will regain trust in the FBI and law enforcement."

Senior FBI leaders ordered to retire, resign or be fired by Monday.  At least six senior FBI leaders have been ordered to retire, resign or be fired by Monday, according to sources briefed on the matter, extending a purge that began last week at the Justice Department across the street from the FBI headquarters.  The senior officials are at the executive assistant director level or special agent in charge level and include those who oversee cyber, national security and criminal investigations, the sources told CNN.  Some were notified while Kash Patel, President Donald Trump's pick to lead the agency, sat answering questions from senators for his confirmation hearing Thursday.  Trump transition officials in recent months have signaled plans to push aside leaders promoted by former FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Kash Patel Hearing Starts Off With a Bang, Future FBI Director Cooks Democrats.  All but certain to become the next FBI director, Patel lit into the weaponization of government that targeted him and others under the Biden administration before cooking Democrats during their initial questioning.  Sen. Chuck Grassley began the hearing by reading some never-before-released emails exposing the FBI's malfeasance over the last several yea  [Tweet with video clip]  What Grassley is referring to is the origins of "Artic Frost," which was the codename given to the government's attempts to prosecute Donald Trump for supposed election-related crimes.  The emails he reads show clear collusion between officials to open a criminal investigation without a viable predicate.  From there, Patel launched into his opening statement.  [Tweet with video clip]

Taking the DEI out of the FBI.  Unfortunately, the FBI has to this point been able to get away with this lunacy.  They've been able to do it because their unqualified, unfit, nearly illiterate DEI hires haven't been in real danger.  Arresting grandmothers and ministers tends not to be a particularly dangerous affair.  Physical fitness, situational awareness, martial and handgun skills tend not to matter.  Likewise, spying on Catholic congregations, parents speaking at school board meetings upset about the political and sexual indoctrination of their children and avoiding arresting terrorists and foreign spies doesn't tax their limited abilities nor put them in danger.  Forced to actually do the job of a qualified FBI agent, however, DEI hires are going to get themselves, competent agents and others killed.  There are, however, positive signs on the horizon.  Kash Patel seems certain to be confirmed as FBI Director, and he knows how government works and how it protects itself.  Woke agents are reportedly threatening to resign in anticipation of being fired.  Patel will surely say "your terms are acceptable."

Kash Patel Has His Work Cut Out for Him Fixing the Disgraced, Incompetent, and Poorly-Dressed FBI.  [Scroll down] No, the FBI wasn't perfect, but they had a standard then.  When they showed up, they looked like professionals.  They spoke like professionals, not like valley girls spewing irritating jargon ("That is my ask.")  They weren't a bunch of gender studies majors recruited straight out of the University of College.  Most were lawyers, veterans or had previously been in law enforcement.  Right now, we have an FBI that's hiring baristas.  Seriously.  As the New York Post explains, the hiring policies of the FBI have hit rock bottom.  They're hiring fat people.  They're hiring drunk drivers.  They're hiring people with Tourette's. [...] And we all know the reason the garbage FBI leadership is hiring these losers.  They all check some diversity box.  Maybe they're the right color du jour, or they have the right plumbing, or they've got the approved sexual preference.  Healthy cis white male with relevant experience — nope!  Three hundred-pound lesbian animists of color furry with a peg leg and bipolar disorder — here's a gun, a badge, and a warrant to arrest an American for unlawful praying.

Despite Democrat Screeching, Years Of Hill Work Has Kash Patel Cruising Toward Confirmation.  From Matt Gaetz to Pete Hegseth to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., several of President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet picks have faced major blowback and media opposition campaigns aimed at derailing their nominations.  But one pick conservatives were bracing for a knock-down, drag-out fight over is seemingly sailing toward confirmation despite early wailing from Democrats:  would-be FBI Director Kash Patel.  Patel was the former Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense and rose to prominence after being a vocal critic of the Mueller investigation into "Russian interference" during the 2016 election, which turned up nothing but caused a major distraction during Trump's first term.

The Perfect Choice.  "If you didn't want Kash Patel to be FBI director, you shouldn't have orchestrated the Russia collusion hoax."  This tweet Hans sent after Kash was selected encapsulates the crux of the matter. [...] If it hadn't been for the FBI's rampant corruption, lawfare, and endless lies — not only related to Russiagate but also targeting parents at school board meetings as domestic terrorists, the events of January 6, including infiltration by FBI informants, spying on congressional staffers, including Kash himself, and much more — Kash would not be the nominee for FBI director today.  However, these events did occur, and they position Kash as the ideal candidate for an agency that has become corrupted to its very core.  One of our greatest frustrations — and the primary motivation for writing this article — is the fabricated portrayal of Kash, particularly by legacy media. [...] Kash is not only the ideal candidate for the job because he is an honest man who will not try to bring down President Trump like FBI directors James Comey and Christopher Wray did, but also because his entire career has prepared him for this moment.  He possesses extensive and relevant experience in all matters related to the FBI, insight into the intricacies of the system, as well as intimate knowledge of where all the bodies are buried.

Justice Department Spied on Incoming FBI Director Kash Patel.  The Justice Department secretly spied on two House members and 43 congressional staffers, including Kash Patel, then a staffer for the GOP-led House Intelligence Committee and now President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for FBI director, as part of a leak investigation.  The department obtained phone records without notifying the courts, according to a sweeping report released Tuesday by the agency's inspector general.  [Advertisement]  "The probe began to investigate leaks to the media of classified information as part of the Trump-Russia probe being conducted by officials at the department," reports Just The News.  "Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that the Justice Department, in filings with the court, did not reference 'the fact that they related to requests for records of Members of Congress or congressional staffers.'"

Wray Kashing Out of FBI?  Christopher Wray has read the writing on the wall, and it's posted from Truth Social.  The FBI director appointed by Donald Trump in 2017 still has almost three years left on his term.  When your old boss comes back on the job and announces your replacement, however, it doesn't take a genius to see what's coming next. [...] Trump announced last week that Kash Patel would take over as FBI director, to work under Pam Bondi as the new Attorney General.  Both appointments send a message that Trump intends to overhaul the Department of Justice with an eye toward reversing the politicization in both the DoJ and FBi that led to a number of confrontations with Trump.  Wray got the job initially for the same purpose but turned out to be part of the problem rather than the solution.

What the Trump Nominees Have Not Done — And Will Not Do.  Trump's nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, is already drawing severe criticism.  His furious enemies cannot go after his resume, since he has spent a lifetime in private, congressional, and executive billets, both in investigations and intelligence.  Instead, they claim he is too vindictive and does not reflect the ethos of the FBI.  But what will Patel not do as the new director?  He will not serially lie under oath to federal investigators as did interim FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a current Patel critic.  He will not forge an FBI court affidavit, as did convicted felon and agency lawyer Kevin Clinesmith.  He will not claim amnesia 245 times under congressional oath to evade embarrassing admissions as did former Director James Comey.  He will not partner with a foreign national to collect dirt and subvert a presidential campaign as the FBI did with Christopher Steele in 2016.  He will not use the FBI to draft social media to suppress news unfavorable to a presidential candidate on the eve of an election.

Kash Patel is just the man for the FBI.  The FBI went rogue a very long time ago.  J. Edgar Hoover was a law unto himself, and everyone in political life was a potential victim.  His violations of civil rights were a national disgrace.  Throughout his 48 years as director, he broke the law routinely.  Like his insufferable successor, James Comey, he believed he answered to "a higher authority" — his own conscience.  These are delusions of grandeur.  The FBI has degenerated into one of the greatest threats to American liberty.  These people think they're above the law.  In fact, they are merely criminal investigators, acting at all times under the direction of a U. S. Attorney.  Every DA in the country has law enforcement officers whom he tasks with investigating crimes.  They're called cops.  FBI agents are just federal cops.

Trump Officially Nominates Kash Patel For FBI Director.  President Trump has officially nominated Kash Patel for the role of FBI Director in his next Administration.  This comes after rumors that deep-state hack Mike Rogers was in consideration for the role were quashed by longtime Trump adviser Dan Scavino.  Rogers, as The Gateway Pundit reported, conceded his highly questionable Senate race in Michigan despite Trump winning, and he was very vocal in trashing President Trump in 2020 for challenging the rigged election.  He would be a horrible pick for FBI director, especially concerning election integrity.  Earlier this month, Congressman-elect Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) predicted that Patel would be selected, telling The Gateway Pundit, "He'll do amazing at the FBI" and noting that "he's been very loyal to President Trump since the first Russia Collusion Hoax."

Here Come the Meltdowns Over Trump's FBI Director Pick, Kash Patel.  Meet the United States' new FBI director:  Kash Patel, a game-changing former lawyer, investigator, and an "America first fight" who will promote transparency, declassify information, expose deep state criminals, dismantle human trafficking cartels, and so much more.  Patel has been personally persecuted by some of the most pernicious deep-state elites, who has proven himself to be time and time again loyal to Trump.  He played a significant role in countering allegations related to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.  He worked night and day to declassify documents regarding the Russian hoax, claiming the papers would exonerate Trump and his associates.  However, just minutes after Trump announced his nomination of Patel for the high-ranking role, liberal media have already combusted.  As the news broke, CNN quickly brought on a California Congressman to go on a freakout monologue about how Patel would go after journalists without a reason.  For five consecutive minutes, the CNN panel ranted about a so-called Trump dictatorship while just flipping through photos of Patel, who they described as a "loyalist," in the background.  The outlet continuously claimed that Patel would target political opponents without acknowledging what the current Biden-Harris Department of Justice has been doing for the past four years.
